Victoria’s Secret’s Transgender Model Alex Consani Already Achieved 3 Huge Feats Even Before Donning Her Wings

Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is back with a bang after six years. This time, it has become more inclusive by having plus-size and transgender models grace the runway, besides top models like Adriana Lima, Gigi Hadid and Bella Hadid. Alex Consani is one of the first two trangender models that the brand has welcomed. Valentina Sampaio is the other transgender model who walked for the brand.
Consani has joined Victoria’s Secret at the age of 21, but she achieved 3 big milestones even before that. Being in an industry that has been mostly seen cis people before can be quite tough for a transgender model like Consani. She has gracefully gone through all of it and has achieved a lot at a very young age.
Alex Consani Achieved 3 Big Milestones Before Walking for Her First Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show
Hailing from California, Alex Consani began hormone replacement therapy at the age of 8, and by the age of 12, she was signed with Slay Model Management. At the time, she became the youngest transgender model to be signed with an agency. It was her mother who discovered the Los Angeles-based agency, which is completely made up of transgender models, through Facebook.
At the age of 16, Consani signed with IMG Models, which represents some of the world’s top models like Gigi and Bella Hadid, Adut Akech, and Kate Moss. In 2021, she made her runway debut for Tom Ford. In the past couple of years, she has walked the runway for brands like Coperni, Versace, and Alexander McQueen. Walking the runways for such big brands is one of the 3 milestones she has achieved.
Models often star in the music videos of some artists and pretty big ones too. For instance, Cara Delevigne and Gigi Hadid appeared in Taylor Swift’s Bad Blood music video. Consani has not left even that stone unturned as she appeared in the music video for English singer, Charli XCX’s hit song 360. In fact, she has also starred in rapper JT’s music video for the song Okay. To be precise, Consani is the ‘IT’ girl of the modeling community at the moment.
Alex Consani Is Not Afraid of Saying “No” to Work Opportunities
Regardless of the field of work, being a woman is tough as it is, and Alex Consani is a transgender woman no less. On the surface, it might look like in today’s world, her being a transgender would not be a problem at all, but it is impossible to guess the hardships she might have faced. Add to this, the fact that she is still quite young.
Despite all of this, Consani has turned out to be a star on the rise with her debut as a Victoria’s Secret model, and she is not afraid of saying, “No” if she has to. In a conversation with TikTok fashion influencer Lyas for Interview magazine, she said:
It’s important to know your boundaries. Especially because there’s a lot of pressure to make you do things that you’re not comfortable with in this industry. It’s like, if you say no, there’s no other opportunity. But that just isn’t true.
She further stated that people should have the liberty to choose what they want, which is how the fashion industry can become more diverse. She also emphasized that when someone is representing themselves and their community, they should feel comfortable with what they are doing. Hopefully, she will continue to achieve more such milestones, paving the way for aspiring transgender models.
