However, as time passed, things became more and more suspicious as Lively was accused of being tone deaf considering her wardrobe choices and the marketing of the movie while Baldoni said some things that shed negative light on the actress’ image. The surfacing of old clips from old interviews that the Gossip Girl star did only added fuel to the fire. One such clip has made it on the internet once again and fans are not holding back at all.

Long before Blake Lively starred in Green Lantern, got married to Ryan Reynolds, and got embroiled in the It Ends With Us controversy, she rose to stardom with her role as the socialite Serena van der Woodsen in the CW teen drama television series Gossip Girl. This is one of the most popular sitcoms to this day and has one of the largest cult followings ever.

Based on Cecily von Ziegesar’s novel series of the same name, the show was created by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage. It followed the lives of a group of students in Manhattan’s Upper East Side chronicled by the unidentified gossip blogger (voiced by Kristen Bell) after whom the show is named.

Lively’s Serena is often referred to as the ‘it girl’ of Manhattan before the term even became common. Her beauty and charm paired with her immaculate fashion sense show why she is deserving of that title. That said, she was also more or less of a diva and this was something that even the actress seemed to channel at times.

A clip from an interview (via Instagram) that Lively appeared for sees her complaining about the weather in New York City and claiming that the Hamptons are much better. She said:

Well, the Hamptons are the place to be in the summer because New York City, Manhattan is so steamy and humid that you just want to strangle yourself. And when there’s concrete everywhere and sweaty cabs and you’re sweating, you just don’t want to be around that. You want to be, you know, by the beach at this beautiful pool right here, lounging on the grass, getting served iced tea.

That “getting served iced tea” comment was what set off the alarms for most fans who were quick to point out that Lively sounds “privileged” while some others claimed that she is “entitled”. It has to be noted here that she is promoting Gossip Girl in the video and the getaway to the Hamptons is actually something that happened on the show.

Most fans are aware that Gossip Girl is mostly shot in New York at some very iconic locations that are worth a visit. Besides those locations, there were also some others where the show was filmed. One of these locations was the Hamptons where Summer, Kind of Wonderful, the premiere episode of the second season was set.

The Hamptons are a significant setting in this episode for introducing new dynamics, including Serena and Nate’s fake relationship being used as a cover for Nate’s relationship with an older married woman and Dan’s attempts to impress a summer fling. Episodes like these emphasized the lavish lifestyles of the characters.
