Vincent D’Onofrio May Have Spoilt Which Avenger Is Joining ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ That Everyone Wants: “We do get clues”
- Vincent D'Onofrio is returning as Kingpin in Daredevil: Born Again.
- He recently seems to have teased which superhero will appear in the show.
- Charlie Cox reflected on how the original series getting tied up with this one was a challenge.
Vincent D’Onofrio is all set to return to the screens as Kingpin in Daredevil: Born Again, and fans could not have been more delighted. As the title suggests, he is not coming alone. Charlie Cox’s Daredevil/Matt Murdock is also going to return and so are his friends.
Now that Marvel is exclusively launching its own Daredevil series, fans cannot help but wonder how it is going to tie in with the larger universe. An even more important question is if anyone from that universe is going to crossover into this show. While there is no confirmation regarding what will happen as of now, D’Onofrio did recently give a little update on it.
Vincent D’Onofrio’s update might have hinted at which superhero is going to show up in Daredevil: Born Again
Daredevil premiered on Netflix in 2015 and instantly became a hit with the fans. The show aired for a total of 3 seasons until 2018. Ever since it ended, both Daredevil and Kingpin have appeared in a couple of projects now and then. However, that was obviously not enough for fans who had been asking for the show to be revived.
Luckily for them, Marvel decided to humor them for once and announced a completely new series that will be a continuation of the events in that show. A trailer for the same was released not so long ago, and the rivalry between the duo seems to be very much there just like in the original series.
As for which Avenger might appear in Daredevil: Born Again, Vincent D’Onofrio‘s words seem to suggest that it might be Spider-Man. In a recent interview with SFX Magazine (which you can read on this Tumblr post), he said:
[…] We’re working towards something else – something that people don’t know about, that we’re not even completely clear on. Marvel keeps a lot of secrets. Our bosses don’t always tell us everything until the last minute, but we do get clues.
While we do not what these clues are, we know that Daredevil teamed up with Spider-Man in the comics. Additionally, it is hard to believe that Charlie Cox casually caught that brick in Spider-Man: No Way Home for nothing. So, there is a good chance that Tom Holland’s Spidey will appear in the show.
Charlie Cox, on bridging the gap between the Netflix show and the new one
It has been almost seven years since the show went off air. A lot has happened since then in the MCU. So, tying up the original show with this new one was definitely a huge challenge. They have worked their best to achieve that continuation while also not forcing people to watch the Netflix series.
In the interview with SFX Magazine, Cox reflected on this challenge, and how they worked to make sure that it came together in the best way possible.
The argument was, if we’re coming back after all these years, we don’t want to just do exactly the same thing. Marvel looked at the episodes and knew it wasn’t quite working. We shot a whole new pilot and they reorganised what we had filmed to make it feel more like the show we had shot all those years previously. Given what a Herculean task that was, it’s very impressive what they achieved.
Although this show is a revival, it is also a continuation. Keeping that in mind, it was important that they do not end up alienating the old fans while also trying to get new ones to tune in.
Daredevil: Born Again will premiere on Disney+ on March 4th.
