DCEU’s not-anymore Superman Henry Cavill is witching around in Netflix’s The Witcher. So it doesn’t look like he will be back in the blue and red suit anytime soon. Moreover, WB themselves don’t seem to have any current plans for the Man of Steel as they are busy with stand alone movies and Wonder Woman is doing a splendid job of being the flag bearer for the DCEU. Yet, the rumours or the fan fervour isn’t going away. People want to see the man of steel just how he has always been- hopeful and fighting for truth and justice. So the rumours and fan castings continue. One of the most prominent rumours is of Michael B. Jordan, the Black Panther star suiting up as the man of steel. But just how much fact is there to this rumour?https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WqQqjTCr4s4Michael B. Jordan Talks About Superman Rumours
“Honestly, I’ve been rumored to play Morpheus, to Superman, to Duck Tales reboot, to Power Rangers, and everything in between. So it’s like I’m kinda used to the rumors I’m playing something. But, anything that I do dive into has gotta be done the right way. It has to be full of authenticity. I’m a fan of comic books, you know? I understand, you know, the fans being upset at ‘Oh now, why are they doing this and why are they changing that?’ I would feel the same way about certain things. So just know, if I ever were to dabble in anything, it would be authentic and something that I feel like people would really support.”
Now the real question is- how much of it is true. Turns out Warner Bros did meet with Jordan at one point about the part, with the actor pitching an idea for a new Superman movie. However, despite what sounds like a good meeting, Jordan reportedly isn’t ready to commit to playing Superman because of WB’s lack of commitment to the character.Jordan isn’t wrong about the fact that WB isn’t fully committed to Superman. The failure of Snyder’s vision and the mega $300 million loss that the studio suffered on Justice League has made the production company very cautious. So while Superman has worked as a cash cow in the past, for WB he hasn’t worked his magic consistently at the box office. They also don’t consider Superman a priority simply because there is a living breathing proof that they don’t need him and it’s called The Arrowverse. But we are always hopeful that DC’s crown jewel will find his way back to the universe he birthed. READ MORE: Superman Will Appear In Black Adam 2!(Source: comicbook.com and tvovermind.com)
