The show sees a murder that happens amid a lavish wedding.
As far as weddings are concerned, the best man is of utmost importance, and in this case, the best man just so happens to be Ishaan Khatter. The actor started his career in Bollywood and has also starred in some Hollywood projects. His presence cannot be overseen in the show, but it might have gone completely unnoticed in a sci-fi comedy that starred Leonardo DiCaprio in the lead role.
The Perfect Couple Star Ishaan Khatter’s Cameo in This Movie Might Have Gone Unnoticed
Ishaan Khatter’s first screen appearance was in the 2005 film Vaah! Life Ho Toh Aisi!, which also starred his half-brother and actor Shahid Kapoor. However, it was not until 2017 that he landed his first lead role in the movie Beyond the Clouds, directed by Majid Majidi. His performance earned him a prestigious award.
Khatter has starred in the 2020 British TV drama miniseries A Suitable Boy. What is even more interesting is that he has had a cameo in the Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence-starrer apocalyptic political satire Don’t Look Up. He even posted about it on his Instagram page.
While discussing his auditions for roles in Hollywood, he revealed a hilarious detail about the cameo to The Nod Magazine.

His screen time was little so it might have escaped some people’s notice. However, the same cannot be said about his role in the mystery drama miniseries The Perfect Couple. It sees him in the role of the best man of Benji Winbury (Billy Howle) whose wedding quickly turns into a nightmare after a murder. It would not be too much of a stretch to say that Khatter does a good job at playing the mysterious hot guy stereotype.
Ishaan Khatter Claims Director Susanne Bier Decided to Make His Character Different from the Source Material
The miniseries has been adapted from Elin Hilderbrand’s novel of the same name, but Khatter’s Shooter Dival is not the same as in the book. The actor has acknowledged this and also explained that it was because Bier had a different vision for Shooter.
In The Perfect Couple, Shooter is meant to be this attractive young guy who comes and stirs things up—not just this object of desire for Amelia. In the books, he’s different—this was Susanne’s vision for him. Sometimes, for a scene, she’d just be like ‘Take the sleeves off his t-shirt, and I was like ‘Okayyy…’
It is not the first time that an actor has been made to appear a certain way (in this case, hot) because the director wanted the character that way. Khatter emphasized that he is not keen on being stereotyped as the hot guy and is working on his craft to land more diverse roles.
