Jennifer Lopez and Shakira gave a spectacular performance during the 2020 Super Bowl halftime show. The show was a massive hit as two Latina superstars came together on one stage and blew the minds of their fans with their superhit songs. While people love them on stage together, Jennifer Lopez was the least happy for the event. In her new documentary, Halftime, the actress shares that she is very unimpressed by the conditions laid down by NFL for a combined act.

As per reports, there are no talks of jealousy between the two divas, but Lopez explained that it was impossible to put across any message in a short duration of six minutes. The singer went on to define the NFL incident as having two headliners, instead of one, to be the worst idea in the world.

In a clip from her recent documentary, Jennifer Lopez is filmed planning her half of the performance with music director Kim Burse. She is seen getting agitated as she said,

“We have six f***ing minutes. We have to have our singing moments. It’s not going to be a dance f***ing revue. We have to sing our message.”

“This is the worst idea in the world to have two people do the Super Bowl. It was the worst idea in the world.”

Benny Medina, who has been Jennifer Lopez’s manager for a long time, also voiced her opinion,

“Typically, you have one headliner at a Super Bowl. That headliner constructs a show, and, should they choose to have other guests, that’s their choice. It was an insult to say you needed two Latinas to do the job that one artist historically has done.”

Lopez and Shakira impressed their fans from all over the world as they performed a medley of their hit songs, including Hips Don’t Lie, Jenny From The Block, and others.

Lopez was in the mood to back down on the issue as she said,

“If it was going to be a double-headliner, they should have given us 20 minutes. That’s what they should’ve f***ing done.”

In the end, the singing goddess’s performance lasted for about 14 minutes. This year, 2023’s Halftime show, featuring Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Eminem, and Kendrick Lamar, also clocked in at nearly 14 minutes.

Despite the limited time, the two stars gave a magnificent performance, which was loved by fans. Lopez was also able to send a political message.

Halftime premiered on Netflix on 8 June 2022 in New York. The documentary follows the journey of the artist as she reflects on her milestone and sets her plans for the second half of her life as she continues to entertain, empower and inspire one and all.
