Music sensation Nicki Minaj’s trip to Amsterdam hit a high note—literally—when she was detained at Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport. She went into custody last weekend at the Netherlands airport after she was detained for drug possession.

When Minaj was arrested, Dutch authorities claimed that she had between 30 and 100 grams of cannabis on her. However, the artist spun a different table, insisting it was her security guard who was the rightful owner of the “pre-rolled cannabis.”

Nicki Minaj didn’t back down from her accusations of the cops, even in the face of the controversy surrounding the arrest. Minaj declared she wouldn’t wish that on anyone and referred to the way she was treated by Dutch police as “disgusting.” She thought that some people at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam “took joy” in the circumstance.

The rapper known for “Starships” shared a video of their initial altercation on X, when they asked to inspect her bags. They then took her into custody upon discovering pre-rolled marijuana. In a series of long tweets, the 41-year-old singer claimed that the drugs were planted against her as part of a plot to prevent her from performing.

The Anaconda star claimed to have encountered racism in a video addressing the event. She also alluded to possible sexism in her interactions with the officers, highlighting the authorities’ lack of compassion.

Following her detention in Amsterdam, Minaj has been vocal about her allegations of racism and collusion against her. This led to the postponement of her Saturday night gig in Manchester, England. Minaj continued:

They succeeded at their plan to not let me get on that stage tonight. I succeeded @ getting to the root of it all by recording them & posting everything in real-time… They sure did know exactly how to hurt me today but this too, shall pass.

According to Sky News, Minaj said on the live-streaming site Stationhead that she felt extremely low when she wasn’t able to get to Manchester. The rapper tweeted:

They’re being paid big money to try to sabotage my tour b/c soooooo many ppl are mad that it’s this successful & they can’t eat off me. They got caught stealing money from my travel/jets. Got fired. Got mad.

As the rapper was ready to take a flight to Manchester on Saturday, Dutch police detained her at an Amsterdam airport on suspicion of possessing “soft drugs.” She was eventually fined and freed but was unable to arrive at the event in time.

Nicki accused the Amsterdam police of racial profiling when she was held by police in Manchester, England. The police agency has defended their conduct and denied the artist’s claims of racism. They clearly stated the arrest was made because they found ‘illegal drugs’ in her possession.

A police department spokesman responded to Nicki’s allegations by telling TMZ that they were unhappy with her accusations of racism and profiling. Robert Kappel, a department spokesperson, explained the government’s position on the issue by criticizing the singer’s claims. The representative said:

We simply do our job, and it is protocol to search luggage and arrest a person when we find drugs.

Around 17:30, Minaj was arrested, and at 21:30, she was released. While the incident sparked a debate over the broader issue of racial profiling, the police firmly denied any misconduct, emphasizing their allegiance to standard government protocols.
