The Actor Tom Hanks Wants Idris Elba to Play Next James Bond after Daniel Craig
By Anadya Narain
Tom Hanks has put forward the idea that Idris Elba would be a great choice to portray the next version of James Bond.
Elba's link to the iconic Ian Fleming character has been talked about for some time, but he hasn't revealed much about it.
In his recent movie "Luther: The Fallen Sun," some fans saw his character ordering a martini as a possible tryout for the Bond role.
Regarding the martini scene, Elba shared with the Radio Times, “My Bond audition? Oh my God, no! I’ve been saying for years, no… The martini line is a bit cheeky, isn’t it?”
Hanks supported Elba for the role of Bond, stating to the BBC, "Keep in mind, James Bond holds a license to kill. I'd grant that license to Idris Elba solely based on the impressive work I've witnessed him deliver."
Currently, we can only guess who the next James Bond will be. But in April 2023, 007 casting director Debbie McWilliams stated that a young James Bond will never happen.
