“Well, at least I’m not a spear carrier”: Emily Blunt Tries to Hide Hurtful Comments Towards Tom Cruise After Co-Star Called Her a Pu—y
Every celebrity has that one contemporary they simply can’t stand. The very mention of them makes the person uneasy and is enough to incite annoyance. For Emily Blunt that is Tom Cruise, who was surprisingly her co-star once.
Cruise has definitely won over a lot of people with his performances over the years. But not Emily Blunt, who once seemed to have some special concerns with him.
Emily Blunt had a lot to cope with while filming Edge of Tomorrow
Emily Blunt and Tom Cruise were co-stars in the 2014 flick, Edge of Tomorrow. That would be the first time Blunt would get a taste of what sort of a co-star the Mission Impossible actor could be. And she wasn’t exactly fond of the first taste.
The Devil Wears Prada actor had to suffer a lot behind the scenes of the largely successful movie. She had to cope with filming in a rather heavy suit, which was a bother for her both on-screen and off-screen. The suit literally made her have an emotional breakdown. And Cruise’s response left a lot to be desired.
What did Tom Cruise do?
The Mary Poppins Returns actor recalled the whole scene. She said, “We had to wear these enormous suits. It was like 85 pounds. It was so heavy.” Her first response to wearing the suit was crying in front of the Eyes Wide Shut star, who had no idea what to do.
And shockingly, out of all the things he could have done, he decided to do the worst. She said,
“He just stared at me for a long time, not knowing what to do, and he goes, ‘Come on, stop being such a pu**y, OK?'”
But she later claimed to not mind his curtness, as she and the Top Gun star really hit it off during the making of the film. She even added to the suit incident, saying,
“And I did laugh, and then we got through it. But the training was intense. It was like twice a day we trained for it.”
But the media had other plans and decided to twist her words to create gossip and drama.
Emily Blunt caught in a pickle
She had to clarify that there weren’t any feelings of enmity between the two in the aftermath of this revelation. But she couldn’t tackle all the queries effectively. Blunt had no answer when during the promotion of Edge of Tomorrow, she was asked why a long long time ago, she had once said that she’d rather work in a badly paid theater for her entire life than in a movie where she would act as a spear carrier for the Magnolia actor.
That was the old Emily Blunt though. The new Blunt couldn’t help but laugh at her folly. She said,
“That is so funny. Well, at least I’m not a spear carrier… I absolutely adore Tom, he’s a dear friend and he was a total gem to me.”
It’s remarkable how much the media remembers and also how much people’s perceptions can change over time.
