“What an ego”: Yellowstone’s Ending Will Almost Certainly Be Ruined Thanks to Taylor Sheridan’s Dumb Move In Season 5 Episode 13
- 'Yellowstone' fans are frustrated after Season 5, Episode 13 focused heavily on Taylor Sheridan’s character.
- Sheridan’s character, Travis Wheatley, seemingly sidelined crucial storylines of Season 5.
- With only one episode remaining, fans are concerned about the show’s ability to resolve major story arcs.
Spoiler Alert!!!
Movies, especially TV shows, have to worry a lot about their narrative choices and character development, as they have the pressure to maintain viewers’ interest while telling the story in detail. The latest season of Yellowstone by Taylor Sheridan seems to face the challenge of this balance lately.
Sheridan plays the character of Travis Wheatley while also being the showrunner of Yellowstone. However, the recent episode of the fifth season has viewers concerned that Sheridan may have risked a proper ending of the show.
Taylor Sheridan Seemingly Blunders Latest Yellowstone Episode
Since its beginning in 2018, Yellowstone has been a hit. The family drama is told around the Dutton family as they try to protect their massive cattle ranch from various competing forces. Starring cast members like Kevin Costner, Wes Bentley, and Cole Hauser, the series has been loved because of its family drama and complex characters.
However, many viewers are not that happy about the turn that was made during Season 5, Episode 13. Travis Wheatley, portrayed by Taylor Sheridan, seemingly stole the plot for that show’s episode. What viewers saw in a rather bizarre scene was Wheatley playing strip poker with his girlfriend Sadie, played by Bella Hadid.
Some viewers felt as if this sequence was more like a vanity project than an actual plot progression. Beth visiting Travis’ compound was given much screen time, but it had little to no significance attached to it. The episode focused on how good Travis is at selling horses, which doesn’t carry forward the narrative.
The victims of this screentime grab are the show’s more important characters at this point. Rip, who could be considered the most interesting character of the show, was essentially background material. Netizens have also raised their voices about it.
@Yellowstone #Yellowstone How the hell is all this going to get wrapped up in an episode and a half? Definitely could've done without the 20 minutes of Taylor making himself look like a ladies man and top cowboy in the world. What an ego. pic.twitter.com/91ZAX4zD27

I'm sure we can ALL AGREE that Kevin Costner was NOT the problem that #Yellowstone has or had. It was the network and TAYLOR SHERIDAN, they're the problem #YellowstoneTV pic.twitter.com/ElP8bVwchw

Taylor Sheridan humiliated himself tonight! That was so cringe it was painful to watch! And that story Rip told was just icing on the cringe cake. His ego was on full display and it was not pretty. It's very obvious Kevin C was the brains behind this all along. #YellowstoneTV

All the abandoned plot-lines and people are still praising Taylor Sheridan like this isn’t the worst last season ever possible for Yellowstone. The show is garbage now. #yellowstone #yellowstonetv

Viewers are upset as this narrative issue came at the worst possible time for the series. As there is only one episode left to deal with several intriguing plots at the same time, each minute counts. Choosing to capture Travis instead of building the important aspects of the show has left many concerned about its ending.
Yellowstone Season 5 Final Episode Has Too Much to Tell
The biggest blunder of Episode 13 might be ignoring the season’s most anticipated storyline: the conflict between Beth and Jamie. They had years of build-up to their fight, but it is as unsatisfactorily resolved as ever. Both have barely shared screens together and are repeating the same previous threats. It now all comes to the final episode and how it deals with the feud.
The episode doesn’t offer major development of any of the main storylines. Everything is left hanging about the upcoming ranch auction, Kayce and Monica’s future, and Yellowstone Ranch’s destiny. It becomes more challenging to conclude all these in one episode.
Fans are concerned about how all these multiple storylines will be resolved. The show has established layered stories of family relations, land disputes, and personal feuds.1
The most irritating component is the chance that the show may be losing. Yellowstone is one of the most successful series, which redefined the modern genre of Western drama. To have it possibly disintegrate, perhaps due to creative self-indulgence, will be quite sad for its fans if the finale fails to deliver a satisfactory ending.
