DJ Envy faces backlash after dressing 8-year-old daughter as Lil’ Kim for Halloween
Record producer and radio show personality DJ Envy and their wife Gia Casey are at the receiving end of backlash after they shared a video of their 8-year-old daughter Brooklyn’s Halloween costume. She was dressed up as Lil’ Kim, and in the video she was performing the Crush On You song.
Even though it seemed that Brooklyn was enjoying herself, she is 8; people on the internet were concerned about parents dressing up their young daughters in inappropriate outfits. She wore a red fur coat along with a matching red bodysuit, which had cutouts and looked revealing. Brooklyn’s look was completed with a red wig, extra-large sunglasses, and ice-out chains.
As the video progressed, the 8-year-old showcased her various other outfits inspired by the music video. Their entire family joined the daughter for some fun dancing and embracing the holiday season. Cardi B commented, ‘She took the assignment very seriously. SHE ATE THAT!!!
People were quick to express their concern by asking the parents to do better with the costumes, especially when it comes to dressing up the kids. They expressed that the lyrics that she was singing were not appropriate for an 8-year-old, and it’s just very disappointing to see parents putting very little mind on dressing up the kids.
Despite a lot of comments about the inappropriate outfit of Brooklyn, DJ Envy posted a video of 11-year-old London recreating Aaliyah’s One in a Million music video. The radio show personality himself dressed up as Uncle Luke Campbell and hasn’t commented on the backlash received as of now.
DJ Envy comes in defense of Sean Diddy Combs
Sean Diddy Combs has been a hot topic in the industry since his arrest in September 2024. Cases after case have just been piling up against the record producer, detailing his dark and inappropriate lifestyle behind the cameras. The Grammy Award-winning artist waits for his trial, which is scheduled for May 5, 2025. Diddy has, however, denied all the allegations against him and is preparing for the trial.
DJ Envy, during an appearance on The Casey Crew Show, admitted that he does not find any malice in Diddy allegedly hosting s-x parties or having a thousand bottles of baby oil at his disposal. He said during the episode that Diddy just likes to get the party started.
He also added that everybody is going to crack a joke, but he does not like how people can convict him before hearing all of the evidence. DJ Envy noted that he didn’t like the fact that the people didn’t give him a bond. The record producer further noted,
He finally concluded that he does think that it’s sad that somebody with such a great legacy is destroyed because of the things that he did. He also noted that if he is found guilty, he should get a sentence appropriate for his crimes.
