“What for me was a catharsis and a discharge”: Shakira Reveals Why She Insulted Clara Chia Marti Along With Piqué in Her New Diss Track
Following her split with ex-partner Gerard Piqué, Shakira has recently dropped a new track in which she mentions their split. The song titled Out of your League has proved to be another smashing hit for the Colombian singer. It is now the most-watched Latin track on YouTube following its release. From dissing Pique and his girlfriend Clara Chia Marti to her tax evasion issue, the singer has addressed all of it.
And recently, Shakira took to Instagram where she explained her intentions behind writing the song. She explained that she drew inspiration from women who were made to feel insignificant but yet stood up for themselves. Additionally, the She-wolf singer also dedicated the achievement of the song to these “women”.
Shakira Reveals The Inspiration Behind Her Latest Hit Track
Following her new track Out Of Your League topping the charts, Shakira took to Instagram to show her gratitude and also shared the inspiration for the song. Her new track is a collaboration with Argentinian producer and DJ Bizarre. Soon after its release, the song was able to garner 63 million plays on YouTube alone. And it is now the most-watched Latin song on the platform. Moreover, it was streamed 14.4 million times on Spotify in just under 24 hours since its release.
The song’s lyrics contain lines dissing her ex-partner Gerard Piqué. She also emphasizes his choice to go from someone like her to his new much younger girlfriend Clara Chia Marti. One line that addresses this is, “You traded a Ferrari for a Twingo. You traded a Rolex for a Casio.”
There is clearly no doubt now that her fans love the song and are showing full support for their artist. Soon after the Waka Waka singer took to Instagram to express her happiness by writing,
“What for me was a catharsis and a discharge, I never thought I would get straight to number one in the world at 45 years old and in Spanish”
Further, she called women who stood up for themselves despite being made to feel insignificant as the inspiration for the song. The song heavily criticized Piqué and his new beau. And it is clear that Shakira was deeply hurt by the split from her former partner.
What Happened To Their Relationship?
After being in a relationship for 12 years, Gerard Piqué and Shakira finally called it quits in the June of 2022. However, reportedly the footballer was already getting closer to his now-girlfriend Clara chia Marti one year earlier to the split. Marti works for his Tv and Production company Kosmos and is 12 years younger than Piqué. Following the split however it came to light that the She-wolf singer was going through a hard time, unlike her former lover. Shakira also revealed that their break-up received negative media attention which impacted her and her children.
But it is clear the singer has seemingly decided to move by focusing on her music. She shares two sons with Piqué named Milan and Sasha.
