The singer and actor extraordinaire, Harry Styles recently won album of the year at the Grammys and rightfully proved it as Harry’s House. The dreamy boy has had thousands go crazy for him since the good old One Direction days. He has created his own empire and is notably the most successful band member after its split. From hit songs to serving looks, he can do it all. The singer loves to have fun and experiment with his looks and what he chooses to wear. But the one thing he hates most is being put into a certain type of box.

For this very reason, millions on the internet hate him for allegedly “queerbaiting”.

Why accusing Harry Styles of queerbaiting is wrong

Assuming someone’s s*xual identity and then blatantly accusing them of such serious allegations is somewhat stupid. Harry Styles is deemed straight on the basis of his dating history, however, he has neither denied nor confirmed any of the facts. His choice of gender-fluid clothing has garnered him such vile comments. The accusation thrown against the singer is using queer aesthetics to please his target demographic and meanwhile being homophobic, is pretty ironic. Therefore, being scrutinized, questioned, and picked apart just for choosing to express himself is outdated. Adding to it, Styles has also dealt with a lot of issues about his s*xual life and how he was perceived since he dealt with fame as a teenager. He said to Better Homes & Gardens,

“For a long time, it felt like the only thing that was mine was my sex life. I felt so ashamed about it, ashamed at the idea of people even knowing that I was having sex, let alone who with,”

The now infamous Vogue cover fueled more hate in the conversation which wasn’t its intention at all. Although the hate is understandable, given the history of the LGBTQ+ community and the struggles faced by them for years, it doesn’t justify accusing a person without knowing the whole truth.
