While Ben Affleck’s DCU Career Remains In Jeopardy, Batman Reboot’s Director Refuses to Break Silence on the Movie
With the DCU’s attempt to reboot Batman with The Brave and the Bold, which is reportedly a part of the new shared universe led by DC Studios’ James Gunn and Peter Safran, DC’s Batman will appear on the screen once more. There have been many rumors surrounding the reboot, but the most recent information suggests that the director for The Brave and the Bold has been chosen.
Fans wondered if actor Ben Affleck would return to DC Studios to direct The Brave and the Bold when it was first announced, but with the rumors about the new director, Affleck’s future in the DC Universe appears uncertain.

The Flash director to helm The Brave and the Bold
At the premiere of The Flash, a journalist asked the movie’s director, Andy Muschietti, if he had an idea or interpretation of Batman if he would ever direct the movie. The director dodged the question by saying that he does not think he can talk about that yet, which the audience member pointed out could be a sign that he is in talks with the studios.
According to reports by One Take News, it has been confirmed that Muschietti will be directing the Batman reboot. They also pointed out that the news shouldn’t come as a surprise as DC and James Gunn had teased that they would very much like to work with Muschietti again.
One of the most well-liked directors in recent years is Muschietti. He has directed both It movies and is currently shooting the Welcome to Derry, Max prequel series. The movie will follow Batman as he adjusts to living with Damian Wayne, his biological son.
What would The Brave and the Bold be about?
The Brave and the Bold will introduce the Bat Family and follow Bruce Wayne’s efforts to control his new Robin, Damian Wayne. There hasn’t been much information released about the reboot project, but it has been noted that it won’t be a direct adaptation of the comic book series of the same name. So perhaps it can be said that it will be a father and son tale.
Ben Affleck, who received a lot of praise for his portrayal of Batman, will not return to the reboot as Bruce Wayne. To make one final appearance in The Flash, which will be released on June 16, he would don the cape and cowl with Michael Keaton.
Following the franchise’s less-than-stellar run in theaters, Gunn and Safran are working to create a new era of movies. The actors for The Brave and the Bold, which will be included in the new DC Universe’s Chapter One: Gods and Monsters, have yet to be revealed.
Ben Affleck would not direct anything for James Gunn
According to an interview with THR, Affleck, whose latest arrival Air was highly appreciated, does not wish to direct anything for the new head of DC Studios, James Gunn. He said, “I would not direct something for the [James] Gunn DC. Absolutely not. I have nothing against James Gunn. Nice guy, sure he’s going to do a great job. I just wouldn’t want to go in and direct in the way they’re doing that. I’m not interested in that.”
Affleck continued that he would rather go to work and find something interesting to hang onto than just dress in a rubber suit and spend the majority of the day leaning against a computer screen with no room for creativity. The actor said he doesn’t want to take part in that in any way and doesn’t want to waste his life on it any longer.
Before reprising his performance as Bruce Wayne or Batman in 2017’s Justice League, Affleck played the character in 2016’s Batman v Superman. Fans initially objected to his casting, but he eventually won them over with his portrayal in the movies. Before Matt Reeves’ The Batman, which starred Robert Pattinson.
Chapter One: Gods and Monsters will kick-start with Superman: Legacy, which is due to be released on July 11, 2025.
