Some A-list actors have joined the SAG-AFTRA and are supporting the union. Dwayne Johnson has outshined others as he stands in solidarity with the SAG-AFTRA Strike. The actor is making headlines for donating a historic seven-figure payment to SAG-AFTRA to help union actors who are on strike. While actors and writers are fighting for fair pay & working conditions, Dinsey has turned the tables as the company has started looking for workers to fill newly created AI-focused jobs at the studio.
Dwayne Johnson makes a huge donation to SAG-AFTRA
Dwayne Johnson is a renowned actor in the industry. He is one of those actors that gained notoriety in the entertainment industry quite quickly. With the ongoing strikes in Hollywood, various actors are standing in solidarity with the writers and actors on strike. Johnson has shown his support to the union by donating a handsome amount to SAG-AFTRA to assist union actors on strike.
SAG-AFTRA director of communications Caroline O’Connor said,
“While we cannot disclose the amount, as it is a private donation, we can confirm that it is seven figures, and it is historic for our nonprofit organization.”
In the union’s nearly 40-year existence, the wrestler-turned-actor’s contribution represents the largest overall donation made by a single donor.
The Rock’s donation was of great help to the SAG-AFTRA with the current crises they are dealing with. The Fast And Furious actor’s donation will provide immediate aid for basic requirements to thousands of people who are affected due to the SAG-AFTRA strike.

Disney began hiring AI experts with a huge paycheck
With the ongoing writers’ and actors’ strikes, many productions have halted, resulting in delays of movies and series. It has affected huge companies as they are suffering huge losses. Amid the strikes, Disney being at the top has started recruiting candidates to fill newly formed AI-focused jobs at the studio.
The Mouse House currently has half-dozen AI-focused jobs and looking for candidates to fill in. Some are at Disneyland and Walt Disney World’s Imagineering team.
The company is looking for, “someone who has the ambition to push the limits of what AI tools can create and understand the difference between the voice of data and the voice of a designer, writer or artist.”
The position guarantees a base salary of up to $180,000 annually, plus potential bonuses. Not just Disney, but other companies like Netflix and Sony are looking for AI experts and providing huge salaries.
The decision of Disney and other companies comes as the writers and actors are negotiating with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers regarding the use of artificial intelligence as it is a threat to their jobs in the industry.
