“Who are these people?”: Even Martin Scorsese Finds Himself Afraid of 1 Absurd Thing
Legendary director Martin Scorsese has been in the filmmaking business for years. Thrillers and classic gangster movies dominate his filmography. The bold choices he makes and the films he makes would make one think he is fearless. But that is not the case.
Life can bring down the mightiest. The Wolf of Wall Street director is no exception. In an interview, he revealed himself as being fearful of one particular thing.
This Is What Martin Scorsese Is Scared Of
Martin Scorsese, the ultimate gangster of filmmaking, is never afraid of taking risks. He has given Hollywood some of its most culturally significant films with varied plots. Even though it might not feel like it Scorsese is one of us mortals. And he too has some fears. In an interview, he named one of his fears, and it is not something one would expect.
The Aviator director is afraid of emails. He revealed this in an interview with the Associated Press. He shared that only recently he started using emails and is not a fan of them.
“I’ve only begun this year to read emails. Emails, they scare me. It says ‘CC’ and there are a thousand names. Who are these people?”
He also commented on how he doesn’t understand the “hieroglyphics” of email writing.

Scorsese does not use a computer. And for good reason. Modern technology seems to get too “too distracting” for the 81-year-old director. And he prefers other activities over screen time. As he told the Associated Press:
“I don’t use a computer because I tried a couple times and I got very distracted. I get distracted as it is. I’ve got films, I’ve got books, I’ve got people.”
This does sound like a wholesome way of living life.
Martin Scorsese Is Technologically Challenged
Even though Scorsese has not been able to keep in touch with the technological advances in his personal life, his professional life is different. Not being well-versed with technology himself has not stopped the Taxi Driver director from going high-tech in his films.

In the 2019 film The Irishman, actor Robert De Niro was digitally re-aged. That’s some highly advanced technology right there. Even as Scorsese has used high tech to serve the plot of his films, he is not fond of the way modern cinema heavily relies on technology. He is one of the few who work to keep the art of cinema alive.
