2024 has claimed the life of yet another star named Hudson Meek. Throughout the year, the entertainment world lost some of the best performers such as the legendary Maggie Smith and One Direction star Liam Payne.
Now, as the year is drawing to an end, the news of the demise of Meek, who was best known for his role in Baby Driver, has broken out. His death has come as a shock to many. The actor was only 16 and had several new projects coming up.
Hudson Meek has unfortunately passed away at the age of 16
Hudson Meek began his acting career at a very young age with an uncredited role in the 2014 Lifetime TV movie The Santa Con, in which his brother, Tucker Meek, also appeared. The movie also starred Melissa Joan Hart. Meek’s first credited role was as the younger version of Baby, portrayed by Ansel Egort in 2017’s action movie Baby Driver.
7 years later and a little too soon for his age, Meek passed away due to blunt force injuries sustained “after falling to the road from a moving vehicle”, according to the account Jefferson County Coroner Bill Yates gave to Alabama news site Al.com. Per the site, the actor sustained the injuries at 10:45 p.m. local time on Thursday, December 19. He was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead at 7:59 p.m. on Saturday, December 21.
An official statement released on his Instagram after his death stated that his service will be held on December 28. The statement read:
Our hearts are broken to share that Hudson Meek went home to be with Jesus tonight. His 16 years on this earth were far too short, but he accomplished so much and significantly impacted everyone he met.
The post also encouraged everyone to pray for his family and friends as they mourn the actor’s tragic passing. Additionally, it requested that instead of bringing flowers, the attendees of his service contribute to a scholarship fund at Vestavia Hills High School, where Meek was a student.
Hudson Meek had several acting credits to his name
Although Meek was best known for his role in Baby Driver, he had numerous other acting credits to his name. He appeared in CBS’ reboot of the action series MacGyver, the CW’s Legacies, and the MLK/X season of National Geographic’s Genius.
An obituary posted on Searcy Funeral Home‘s website stated that he had starred in several projects, some of which are scheduled for release next year.
Hudson was also an accomplished actor. He worked on several major motion pictures and television shows, some of which will be released in 2025. He absolutely loved spending time on set and having the chance to learn the names and stories of every member of the cast and crew.
He also had a guest appearance as a teenage version of Mark-Paul Gosselaar’s character Saar in NBC’s Found. Further, he also had voice acting credits in the animated YouTube series Badanamu Cadets and Badanamu Stories. His upcoming movie The School Duel competed at the 50th Deauville American Film Festival.
