Leslie Jordan left a void in many people’s hearts and lives that will remain empty forever. In an unfortunate turn of events, the American actor died on 24th October 2022 in a car crash. Since his death, a lot of people had paid their tributes to the actor in many ways. However, the sitcom, Call Me Kat paid their tributes to the actor in a way that touched everyone’s hearts. The episode that aired on 5th January was named “Call Me Philiam” after Jordan’s character Phil on the sitcom. Vicki Lawrence was also featured on the episode as a guest star. She and Leslie Jordan worked together in the Fox comedy, The Cool Kids.
Dolly Parton pays tribute to Leslie Jordan
Back in October, Dolly Parton shared a post to her Instagram where she conveyed how she felt about Jordan’s death. She wrote, “I know people always say, “Oh, they will be missed” but in this case that could not be more true.” She also referred to Leslie Jordan as a little brother at the end of the message. During the premiere episode of the fourth season of Call me Kat, the music icon grieved the passing of Jordan in a guest appearance on the show.
Dolly Parton started by singing a verse of the song Where The Soul Never Dies. She has recorded this song with Jordan in 2021. After singing a verse of the song, Parton directly addressed her message to the late actor. She said,
“I know usually at a memorial, people talk about somebody. Well, I’m going to talk to you, because there is that place on the other side, and I’m certainly going to see you there, little brother. You left a lot of people here with a lot of precious, precious memories. “Everybody loved you, but I doubt many of them loved you more than I did.”
The singer further mentioned how Jordan just wanted everyone to be happy and concluded by singing the melody of her song I will always love you.
Mayim Bialik talks about how the show Call me Kat decided to pay their tribute to the late actor
The premiere episode of the fourth season of Call me Kat was a tribute episode to Jordan. The episode reportedly showed clips of Jordan’s time on Call Me Kat, backed by his duet with Parton. When he passed away in October, the series stopped their production for two weeks. Before the last episode aired, Mayim Bialik said that the episode, “would both celebrate him and honor him in a way that we hope is respectful“. The actress further revealed that they were filming an episode when Jordan passed away and they had to rewrite it.
The producers and writers did an incredible job to end the journey of Leslie Jordan’s character Phil. Mayim Bialik said, “We found a way for him to live forever. His character will live forever, and he can have whatever adventures we all imagine.”
Jordan died in a car crash on 24th October in a car crash. He was allegedly driving to the set of Call me Kat when his BMW crashed into the side of a building.
