Who Is The New Sorcerer Supreme After Doctor Strange’s Death?

Marvel Comics has finally revealed who will take over the mantle of Sorcerer Supreme after the death of Doctor Strange. On Tuesday, it was announced by Marvel that Clea Strange will take over the mantle in an all-new series called Strange from Moon Knight’s Jed MacKay and Amazing Spider-Man’s Marcelo Ferreira. In the series, Clea is forced to protect the Earth against magical threats while she’s still trying to hold onto the late Stephen Strange.

In the comics, Clea’s history has always been tied closely to Doctor Strange. She made her first cameo appearance in Strange Tales #126 by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko just a year after the original Sorcerer Supreme appeared. Clea is the daughter of a follower of Dormammu and hails from the Dark Dimension. After Strange helped in freeing her from Dormammu, the two eventually fell in love and she becomes a major part of Strange’s adventures. Clea goes on to become the Dark Dimension’s Sorceress Supreme and while she has been missing in the recent Marvel Comics stories but made a comeback in the current The Death of Doctor Strange arc.

Marvel Comics revealed on Tuesday that Clea will be the new Sorcerer Supreme in the Marvel Comics after the events of The Death of Doctor Strange. Strange #1 will be spinning directly out of the current miniseries and will now be an ongoing title that will star the magical hero. The comic book series will be written by Jed MacKay with art from Marcelo Ferreira.

Strange #1 Will Be Available In March 2022

While appearing in a recent press release, MacKay stated that he’s really excited to open a new chapter in the world of Doctor Strange, saying he’s got “some new adventures going and some new weirdies on the table, and I can’t wait for folks to come along with us!” Here is the cover for Strange #1 by artist Bjorn Barends.

Here’s the official synopsis of Strange from Marvel.com which reveals that Clea will be longing to bring back Stephen Strange from the dead as she becomes the new Sorcerer Supreme.

MacKay also revealed that Clea will have her work cut out for her as she becomes the new Sorcerer Supreme – suggesting a new villain named the Harvestman.

“After the apocalyptic events of The Death of Doctor Strange, there’s a new Sorcerer Supreme in residence at 177A Bleecker Street, and a new Doctor Strange- Clea Strange.
