“Why are you lying? Just have the balls to do it for real”: Kristen Stewart is Lucky She Found Robert Pattinson While Auditioning For ‘Twilight’
Kristen Stewart is an actress who has gained worldwide recognition for her versatile performances in film and television. Her breakout role came in the form of Bella Swan in the Twilight franchise, where she starred opposite Robert Pattinson. While the franchise may have catapulted 32-year-old, Stewart to superstardom, it was not an easy road for her to secure the role of Bella Swan. Spencer star, Stewart encountered many difficulties and failures while preparing for the Twilight auditions, but she continued and won the highly desirable role.

Kristen Stewart Thankful For Robert Pattinson’s Casting
Kristen Stewart and the 36-year-old, Pattinson were both cast in the lead roles of the wildly popular Twilight movie franchise back in 2008. Despite the ups and downs of their relationship, Stewart recently expressed her gratitude for Pattinson’s casting in the film that helped launch her career.
Casting the co-lead for the Twilight movie series was no easy task, and finding the perfect match for the actress, Stewart proved to be far more challenging than hiring Stewart herself. After screen-testing several actors, none of them seemed to impress her and director Catherine Hardwicke.
After a while, Into The Wild performer, Stewart’s attention shifted towards Pattinson’s ability to be responsive and adaptable during the screen test, as soon as he entered the audition process.
Unlike the other actors, Batman star Pattinson was able to change his performance depending on Stewart’s actions, creating the perfect chemistry needed for Twilight,
“He wasn’t just concerned with standing in a statuesque way and posing. He had the right things going on in his head and at the same time he was very responsive. He didn’t have this set thing that he was doing, he could see me,”
On one occasion, Stewart shared with MTV News,
“Depending on what I did he would change his performance. I hate it when people are so structured that they’ve got what they’re doing down. But we could see each other. It was a responsiveness thing. I didn’t have that with anybody else. I was thinking, ‘Argh, everyone is lying to me. Why are you lying? Just have the balls to do it for real, “
She later revealed that if actor, Pattinson hadn’t been cast as her co-star and love interest in the films, she wouldn’t have been able to do the movie. She said,
“If Rob didn’t get the part, if they didn’t think I was right about who we should cast, I couldn’t have done the movie. I probably would have done it if he never came in and just made it work with someone else.”
The Twilight franchise got lucky when Pattinson was cast, as the chemistry, he shared with co-lead, Stewart played a pivotal role in the success of the movie. However, the casting process for the vampire series was wild for both Stewart and Pattinson.
Wild Twilight Audition For Robert Pattinson And Kristen Stewart
Casting for the Twilight franchise was always going to be a challenge, particularly in finding the right actor to portray vampire Edward Cullen, according to director Catherine Hardwicke. Although Stewart was quickly chosen to play teenager Bella Swan, the search for her co-lead was more difficult.

Looking back, Hardwicke reflected on the moment when actress, Stewart auditioned alongside Robert Pattinson, she explained, “I wanted somebody that didn’t seem like a real person,” Further, she cleared,
“Who is that going to be? This vampire has lived for 90-something years. He’s ethereal, he’s special, he’s unique, he’s internal, he’s brooding, he’s everything, you know, iconic.”
Director, Hardwicke provided a detailed account of the initial audition that took place between Rob and Stewart in her bedroom, “They did the kissing scene and he fell off and landed right there on this floor,”
She remembered in detail the first audition both had together in the bedroom of her house,
“Rob was so into it, he fell off the bed. I’m like, ‘Dude, calm down.’ And I’m in there filming with my little video camera, you know, whatever.”
After the audition, Screenwriter, Hardwicke memorized that the Twilight, actress advocated for Rob to be cast in the role, she said, “I could tell they had a lot of chemistry.”
The Twilight audition was a wild and unforgettable experience for both. It was the starting point of their careers as Hollywood A-listers and a testament to their talent and dedication.
