Madonna is no stranger to headlines, even at 66 years of age. Regarded as the Queen of Pop, she has often been the center of controversies whether it is for something she said or a social media post. However, the controversy seems to have gotten out of hand now as this time she is getting death threats which raise concern about her own safety.
The Like a Prayer singer seems to have gotten on the wrong foot with some people on social media after posting pictures that seem to hurt their religious beliefs. Topics like religion and political inclinations are often controversial due to their sensitivity, and Madonna has reportedly stirred trouble by crossing a line with some provocative AI-generated pictures involving Pope Francis.
Madonna is reportedly getting death threats after posting AI-generated pictures with Pope Francis
Madonna has never been one to not stir up conversation whether it is about embracing her s*xuality and not conforming to societal expectations of women her age, or her provocative performances that draw both criticism and praise. Not to mention the sadomasochistic imagery of the music video Erotica and her S*x Book which explored explicit s*xual themes, causing backlash from conservative audiences and critics.
Growing up in the suburbs of Detroit, Madonna had a Catholic background which has reflected in her artistry throughout her career. The use of rosaries in fashion and the themes in her musical works, such as the song Like a Prayer and the album MDNA, are also influenced by her Catholic upbringing.
However, Like a Prayer was controversial in its own right because not only did it feature burning crosses but also s*xualized Jesus. The songstress has done it again by posting two AI-generated pictures of herself and Pope Francis, the head of the Catholic Church (via RadarOnline.com). The pictures show them in compromising situations which has sparked massive media outrage from the religious people.
According to the outlet, it has gotten to a point where she is recieving death threats. A source close to the songstress revealed:
Her team is now looking at how she’s protected when she’s out and about. The threats are real.
The pictures she posted were obviously meant as a joke and another example of her wicked sense of humor. That said, it has to be kept in mind that she is a public figure and the world is become increasingly dangerous every day.
Madonna’s fans might finally get new music in 2025
Days after she posted those controversial pictures, the Material Girl singer posted a video montage of her and producer Stuart Price working on new music on Instagram. In the video, she and Price can be seen dancing and writing music.
Her boyfriend Akeem Morris, manager Guy Oseary, and twin daughters Stella and Estere join her in the studio as well. The caption reads:
Working on new music with Stuart Price. these past few months has been medicine for my SOUL. Songwriting and making music is the one area where I don’t need to ask anyone for their permission.. i’m so excited to share it with you.
She concluded the caption asking who wanted new music in the upcoming year which means that she might actually release new content for fans. The last time she released a new music was in 2019 when she released the album Madame X although she has collaborated with some other artists and released a remix album. Hopefully, the new year will give the fans new music from the Take a Bow singer.
