When Kate Winslet married Edward Abel Smith, AKA Ned Rocknroll, in an intimate ceremony, Leonardo DiCaprio was not just one of the few Hollywood celebrities to be invited, but he was the one to give Winslet away. The two pals walked down the aisle together as DiCaprio was bestowed with the honor of accompanying his friend on this journey.

Rocknroll’s birth name is Edward Abel Smith and he goes by this name nowadays. Winslet and Smith’s love story is also as enchanting as it gets. Smith is now a stay-at-home dad who takes care of the kids while Winslet works in Hollywood.

Watching them gush whenever they meet at red-carpet events always sparks rumors of them dating. Winslet and DiCaprio’s eyes sparkle whenever they see each other, making fans ship them throughout their careers. The pandemic was tough on the Titanic co-stars much like everyone else across the world. When they finally met after years in 2021, Winslet told The Guardian,

I couldn’t stop crying. I’ve known him for half my life! It’s not as if I’ve found myself in New York or he’s been in London and there’s been a chance to have dinner or grab a coffee and a catchup. We haven’t been able to leave our countries. Like so many friendships globally, we’ve missed each other because of Covid. He’s my friend, my really close friend. We’re bonded for life.

After meeting and becoming friends on the sets of the 1997 blockbuster, there has been no separating Winslet and DiCaprio. Since they started their career together and were catapulted to stardom hand in hand, Winslet and DiCaprio feel grounded in each other’s presence.

Despite the steamy chemistry they shared in various scenes of Titanic, Winslet and DiCaprio have always laughed off the rumors of them dating. They find it hilarious for people to see them in a romantic relationship when they have always acted like goofy kids with each other. In 1998, they spoke to Rolling Stone where Winslet revealed,

Just the notion of that was insane, it would have been absolutely like incest. I have the relationship with Leo that all the women in the world would envy. It so wasn’t us. And yet we were so locked into what all that had to be about. The Rose in me was really sort of loving the Jack in him, actually. And even though I didn’t feel that way about Leo, it was quite nice to sort of feel that way in the scene.

The two actors are indeed bonded for life as they continue to share a beautiful relationship. No matter what ups and downs life brings them, they will always stand by each other.

From Winslet’s Golden Globes win in 2009 and telling DiCaprio how much she loves him to DiCaprio’s 2016 Oscar win that made Winslet teary-eyed, the tales of their friendship will be etched in history for eternity.
