“Why not?”: Penélope Cruz is Open to Both Marvel and DC Roles, Wants to be in Superhero Movies
Penélope Cruz’s next stop might be a superhero movie. Fans always want to see their favorite movie actors in superhero movies. For instance, there was once a rumor that in Multiverse of Madness, Tom Cruise would have a cameo as Iron Man. Unfortunately, that has not happened, to date.
That being said, when Tom Holland was asked about which superhero he wanted to play, he mentioned Spiderman. Holland’s manifestations became true and now, he is one of the best superhero characters in Hollywood. In the same way, many other Hollywood stars have been asked about their interest in acting as a superhero. The question went quite well with one of the all-time-favorites, Penélope Cruz.
Penélope Cruz Would Love to Be in A Superhero Movie
On being asked in Variety’s 10 Directors to Watch (via Variety) about her interest in featuring as a superhero character, Penélope Cruz answered, “why not? it’s fun.”
Many fans have posted their respective opinions on the web regarding this response of Penélope Cruz. Some fans have heavily appreciated her humor in movies like The 355. Therefore, fans want to see her feature in Marvel movies where the superheroes have a good sense of humor.
Apart from this, many fans also want her to feature in DC movies as a superhero character because they think her acting skills would make for an exceptional performance. Some want to see her as Batwoman, and some have claimed she will be better off as Catwoman.
Penélope Cruz’s Children Are the Source of This Enthusiasm
Penélope Cruz’s rising interest in superhero movies is a motherly manifestation. She stated that her kids desperately wanted her to feature as a superhero character and she is completely on board with it. She further mentioned that being in movies like Avengers and Justice League is genuinely fun and interesting.
Adding on to the hype, her husband Javier Berdem stated that the Pirates of the Caribbean star is a superhero herself, even without a cape on. Her husband’s support and fans’ excitement were bound to create excitement for a potential superhero character.

Cruz wants to experience being in that bubble where she is praised and acknowledged as a top-gear superhero. Although there is no specific guarantee or fixed date for her appearance as in Marvel or DC, she has been in a few conversations about the same.
However, the actress clearly stated that she is first looking forward to doing a musical movie, and then, if convenience permits, would love to take up a superhero role. Just like Wolverine’s video with Deadpool was a delightful Easter egg for fans, perhaps the Cruz interview also hints at something big being in the works.
