What most of the viewers did not know is that filming intimate scenes between Radnor and Smulders had some unexpected and hilarious moments. Cobie Smulders had a troublesome habit that used to traumatize and tickle Radnor during their time on set.

During an interview (via YouTube), Josh Radnor shared a behind-the-scenes secret about his Cobie Smulders that will change the way fans think of their on-screen intimacy. According to Radnor, Smulders used to describe what they did during their coital scenes.

Cobie Smulders has like a wildly creative and disgusting imagination, and we had this thing where we had a bit, whenever Ted and Robin had just made love like it was their post-coital scenes, we had a few of them, and she started doing this thing where she would tell me exactly what we had just done.

Smulders would describe in graphic detail what their characters had supposedly just done. This playful yet somewhat traumatizing ritual became an inside joke between the two actors. Radnor used to get embarrassed and off-track from his zone of acting for a while. He said,

It was so disgusting and right when I was like as bright red-faced and couldn’t breathe, they’d be like ‘action’ and I’d be like ‘sorry she just said something to me that I’m never gonna be able to shake’.

This habit shows a lot about the comfortable relationship Radnor and Smulders developed off-screen. Their ability to joke around even during potentially awkward scenes contributed to their on-screen chemistry for sure.

Why Did Fans Dislike Ted Mosby and Robin Scherbatsky’s Relationship?

Despite their chemistry, many fans felt frustrated with Mosby and Scherbatsky’s on-and-off relationship in the show. Many felt that Mosby put in more effort than Scherbatsky to win her over. This made their relationship feel one-sided at times.

Another common sentiment among fans was that both the characters actually worked better as friends rather than romantic partners. People enjoyed their platonic interactions, particularly when they were roommates, as they felt these moments were more genuine than their romance.

Some viewers also felt that Scherbatsky had better chemistry with other characters, particularly Barney Stinson. The development of Scherbatsky and Stinson’s relationship was seen by many as more natural and based on mutual understanding.

Many felt that the show’s ending didn’t justify the character development and relationships that had been built up over 9 seasons. While Radnor and Smulders’ off-screen friendship may have enhanced their performances, it wasn’t enough to convince all viewers of Mosby and Scherbatsky’s compatibility as a couple.
