Just when things were starting to get better and people were getting to get over the whole matter, Jada Pinkett Smith said that she has been separated from her husband Will Smith since 2016. The actress went on to drop bombshell after bombshell regarding her marriage and personal interests. One of the most recent claims has put the Men in Black actor at a crossroads with Tom Cruise.
Will Smith’s Friendship with Tom Cruise Is at Risk
As it turns out the King Richard star is not the only one who is friends with Tom Cruise. The Red Table Talk show host also has a strong bond with the Mission: Impossible star ever since they worked together in the 2004 neo-noir movie Collateral. This bond is now causing trouble for the Emancipation actor’s friendship with Cruise as Jada Pinkett Smith has expressed her interest in dating the Top Gun star amidst divorce rumors.
According to Radar Online, a source revealed that Will Smith is allegedly planning to get divorced. The insider said:
“Airing all her and Will’s secrets was like dropping the final bomb on their already broken union. It’s looking like Will is finally going to file for divorce.”
Speaking of how the Scream 2 actress’ intentions might affect Smith and Cruise’s friendship, the insider claimed:
“He [Will] will take it personally because he’ll feel that he’s losing a friend in Tom. It will mess with his head for sure, but Jada never seems to care about that.”
Whatever was happening in Jada Pinkett Smith’s marriage with the Ali actor should have been kept under wraps to avoid media scrutiny. However, the actress has kept being more and more open about it despite public backlash.
Will Smith’s Decades-long Friendship with Tom Cruise
Will Smith did not get along with Tom Cruise from the beginning. There was more competition between them than camaraderie. However, the I Am Legend star soon realized that Cruise was unlike his contemporaries who would not want him to overtake in the industry.
In an interview with Newsweek, Smith revealed how the Mummy actor was different from other actors, saying:
“Tom is one of the most open, honest, and helpful people I’ve met in Hollywood, or really anywhere. I mean, how many people in his position would want me to win, want me to be a bigger and better movie star? Few people in this business want me to win like that.”
