“William had been having second thoughts”: Kate Middleton Broke Up With Prince William After Their Christmas Drama Back in 2007
Prince William and Kate Middleton are known for being the idol royal couple. After their first meeting in 2022, the couple started dating and got engaged in 2010. Soon after their engagement, the couple tied the knot in April 2011. Both of them have been supportive of each other and are known for their strong union. However, things were always not the same.
During their dating period, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge went through a rough patch that caused their separation in 2007. Royal author Katie Nicholl revealed the incident in her 2011 book, The Making of a Royal Romance.
Why Did Kate Middleton Break Up With Prince William?
Royal author Katie Nicholl’s 2011 book The Making of a Royal Romance is once again in the spotlight followed by the release of Harry & Meghan. The book specifically focuses on the love story of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
The book also includes an incident followed by their Christman celebration. After spending Christmas together in 2006, the Princess of Wales also had big plans for celebrating the New Year with Prince William. However, the Duke was unable to follow up with her plans leaving Middleton in “floods of tears.”
The book revealed that Prince William was advised by the late Queen Elizabeth II and his father to take things slow with Kate Middleton. “William had been having second thoughts and sat down with his father and his grandmother to have a frank discussion about his future with Kate,” Katie Nicholl mentioned in her book.
Months later in 2007, the Princess of Wales broke up with Prince Williams. However, the late Queen Elizabeth II was not very happy with their decision to split.
Queen Elizabeth II Was Impressed With Kate Middleton
Although Queen Elizabeth II advised Prince Williams not to hurry in his relationship with Kate Middleton, she didn’t want them to split. The Queen was reportedly disappointed with their decision.
Princess Diana’s biographer Andrew Morton said in an interview that the Queen was impressed with Kate Middleton for loving her grandson “for himself, not for his title.” He also revealed that she spend a lot of time nurturing their relationship and wanted them to be together.
The author also revealed that no one expected Prince William and Kater Middleton’s “university romance” would continue even after their graduation. But after Queen saw the potential in the Princess of Wales, she agreed with their relationship.
The Duke and Duchess’ breakup also did not last long. Soon after their split in 2007, they were back together and were spotted at an army party at barracks in Bovington, Dorset. Followed by their reunion, the Princess of Wales moved in with Prince William in his Clarence House flat.
The couple has been married for almost 12 years and has a beautiful family with three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
