Marvel Studios President talks about MCU post-Deadpool & Wolverine.

Kevin Feige clarifies if MCU movies will be R-rated post- Deadpool & Wolverine releases

During a press conference hosted by Rob Delany, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige clarified if MCU movies released after Deadpool & Wolverine starring Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds will be R-rated. He said, via The Playlist,

Every Marvel film is important, and there’s nothing better than a great movie for a cinematic universe. In the before and after aspect of it all, I think a lot of people talk about the R-rating and ask, Is every Marvel movie going to be R-rated after this?’ Of course not. But I hope every movie after this embraces its tonality the way ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ and this team does.

Actor Ryan Reynolds chimed in to explain why Marvel is retaining the R-rating for Deadpool & Wolverine. He noted that R-rated is never exploited, adding that it’s never really used just to use it, but it’s just there as a facility to tell the most authentic story about two iconic characters coming together on-screen for the first time.

Talking about the R-rating, Kevin Feige spoke to BlackTree TV, where he addressed the Blade, about which he seemed confident it would also be R-rated. He said via Comic Book

For the last few years, we’ve been trying to crack that movie. I think the most important thing for us is not rushing it and making sure that we’re making the right Blade movie because there were some great Blade movies years ago, and they were all R-rated. So, I think that’s inherent—like Deadpool, inherent with the character of Blade.

As of now, apart from Mahershala Ali, Mia Goth and Delroy Lindo are confirmed to be part of Blade. Goth plays Lilith, the villain in the movie who, in comic books, is the daughter of Dracula.

Kevin Feige addresses the highly anticipated question regarding the ‘Mutant Saga’

During the press conference, the studio’s president mentioned that now that they have characters from the X-Men world, the Mutant Saga wouldn’t have to wait until the Multiverse Saga was complete to begin. He said via The Playlist,

The after is clear—now that we have characters from the X-Men world, the Mutants—we haven’t had access to before. So, this is the beginning of that, and every movie post-Deadpool &Wolverine will be the Mutant era coming into the MCU.

A user mentioned, ‘Wish we didn’t wait till Hugh Jackman was nearly 60 though’ with another adding, ‘Finally, the mutants get to shine. It’s a shame that it took this long.

Another X user wrote, ‘It’s the start of a reinvention of superpowered people. It’s going to be awesome.’ A fan mentioned that the X-Men are back with another one, mentioning that the news about the mutant era gets them hyped. They explained, ‘Both X-Men and Fantastic 4 are finally coming into the fray. The real MCU starts with Deadpool and Wolverine.’  Fans have expressed that Kevin Feige took a long time to bring the Mutants into the MCU.

Deadpool & Wolverine is all set to release in theaters on July 26th, 2024.
