One of the most infamous crimes of Woody Harrelson’s father Charles Harrelson was the assassination of U.S. District Judge John H. Wood Jr. The incident took place on May 29, 1978, in San Antonio, Texas. The crime was conducted by Woody Harrelson’s father along with his accomplice Jamiel Chagra on the behest of a reputed drug lord, reportedly for $250,000.
After an investigation, Charles Harrelson was brought to trial. He was convicted for Wood’s murder and was even sentenced to two life terms in prison. His criminal record made it difficult to secure his release. Charles Harrelson expired on March 15, 2007, in the prison.
Matthew McConaughey Believes That Woody Harrelson Is His Half-Brother
Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey have not only worked together but also look strikingly similar. They have collaborated for True Detective and EDtv. They were last seen in the Apple TV+ comedy series Brother From Another Mother. As reported by the media outlet People, Woody Harrelson’s father Charles was a bit of a womanizer. It was revealed that Harrelson was involved with McConaughey’s mother Mary Kathleen after her divorce from the Interstellar actor’s father, James Donald McConaughey.
During an appearance on Let’s Talk Off Camera podcast, Dallas Buyers Club actor opened up on his connection with his True Detective co-star Woody Harrelson. He said-
“We went on to unpack what this ‘knew’ meant and did some math and found out that [Harrelson’s] dad was on furlough at the same time that my mom and dad were in their second divorce. Then there’s possible receipts and places out in West Texas where there might have been a gathering, or a meeting, or a ‘knew’ moment.’”
