The ABC daytime talk show, Live with Kelly and Mark has been making headlines since Ryan Seacrest announced his departure from the show in April 2023.

The show, previously known as Live with Kelly and Ryan, has since been renamed to reflect Kelly Ripa’s new co-host, Mark Consuelos. However, during a recent episode, the hosts faced an awkward moment when the 52-year-old mistakenly called a fan by the wrong name on air.

The mistake occurred during their daily Grow For It Spring trivia part, where fans ring in to answer a question to win a prize. The actor mistakenly called their first caller “Charlotte” instead of “Sonya.”

The segment began with him saying, “On the phone is Sonya Heath from Charlotte, North Carolina.” He added, “Hey there, good morning Charlotte.”

The talk shows star quickly stepped in to correct him, she said, “Sonya, that’s Sonya.” She added more clearly for the camera, “Sonya.” while Mark scrambled to get the caller’s name right.

The show has also been facing challenges in filling seats at recent pre-recorded episode tapings, with producers struggling to attract audiences for the tapings. Emmy award-winning status, fans have noticed that the episodes have been pre-taped two months in advance, with some episodes airing back-to-back.

According to an insider.

“There was a very small line waiting to get into the studio. Security had to pull people from the streets who didn’t have tickets to fill spots. A crew member also asked audience members from the morning taping to stick around for the pre-tape that began shortly after. Once the audience took their seats, the insider noted that “there were a few empty seats still left open.”

Despite the challenges, both couples continue to host the show together, with co-host replacing Seacrest as Ripa’s co-host since April 17.

Mark Consuelos Joins Kelly Ripa As Co-Host After Ryan Seacrest’s Exit

On April 17, Live with Kelly and Ryan welcomed a new chapter as Mark Consuelos joined Kelly Ripa as her co-host, replacing the 48-year-old.

The couple, who are also married in real life, will be bringing their relatable dynamic to the No. 1 morning talk show in the country.

Michael Gelman, who is the executive producer said when the news broke that Consuelos would be replacing media personality as Ripa’s new co-host.

“The real concept of the show, in a symbolic sense, is that they are husband and wife. They have their coffee mugs, and they’re chit-chatting about what’s going on.”

The Hollywood Reporter recently interviewed Consuelos, where he spoke candidly about the doubts he and Ripa had about him becoming the co-host, as they didn’t want to mess up the show’s success, he said.

“Of course. It’s the No. 1 show. I didn’t want to screw anything up. It’s like coming onto a championship football team, and the only place to go is down. I was like, wait a minute, I want to make sure I don’t mess anything up, and she reminded me every time we’ve done it, the response has been amazing. We have a blast.”

Consuelos believes their shared history will add a relatable aspect to the show, as they discuss their experiences with their in-laws, children, and friends.

Fans of Live with Kelly and Mark are excited to see what the future holds and are eager to watch the beloved couple work as the host.
