Leonardo DiCaprio On A Scene With Jennifer Garner In Steven Spielberg’s Movie

Steven Spielberg and actor Leonardo DiCaprio collaborated for the 2002 release Catch Me If You Can. The crime comedy-drama is based on the book of the same name co-authored by Frank Abagnale. Jennifer Garner was roped in for the movie only because of the Shutter Island actor, as the original script of the movie did not have any scene related to her. While talking about the movie, Jennifer Garner recalled-

“It was magical. We kissed a whole lot. It was only uncomfortable for the first couple of minutes. Then you’re just going for it, slobbering all over each other and saying, ‘Oh, you have something in your teeth.’ I went through a couple of tins of breath mints.”

Both Jennifer Garner and Steven Spielberg were a bit nervous about that intimate scene. While talking about what went wrong with that scene the Academy Award-winning actor mentioned-

“After all, at first something did not work out for us, the episode ‘did not work’ as it should. I remember Steven got a little nervous, pulled a cigar twice, and then just sat there for five minutes looking up. He was thinking about how to improve the episode. We change everything! He completely turned the scene. Changed the hotel room, our lines… Added a moment where Jennifer throws playing cards at me,”

Leonardo DiCaprio really wanted the intimate scene to be a part of the movie, but Steven Spielberg was skeptical about it. The Revenant actor spoke about requesting the Academy Award-winning director and said-

“I called Steven and begged him to include it in the script. And he did, he listened to me! The episode ended up safely in the movie, not on the floor of the editing room, which I’m unspeakably glad.

As a part of the preparation, Leonardo DiCaprio had to read the autobiography of Frank Abagnale. The actor went through a myriad of emotions while reading the book Catch Me If You Can. From laughing till his stomach hurts to crying while reading certain sections of Frank Abagnale’s autobiography, the comedy-drama counts as one of the most important movies of the 48-year-old actor’s life.

Drew Barrymore Wanted Steven Spielberg To Be Her Father During The Filming Of ET

Actor turned talk show host Drew Barrymore will always have a special place in her heart for Steven Spielberg. The actor-director duo collaborated for one of the most critically acclaimed movies in Hollywood E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial. Recently, during an interview with the media outlet Vulture, the Blended actor and Steven Spielberg spoke about the 1982 released movie. Drew Barrymore was only 7 years old while making her screen debut in E.T. She went on to say-

“He is the only person in my life to this day that ever was a parental figure.”

For Drew Barrymore, Steven Spielberg has been no less than a father figure in the movie industry for her. During the interview, the Jaws director recalled-

“She was staying up way past her bedtime, going to places she should have only been hearing about, and living a life at a very tender age that I think robbed her of her childhood. Yet I felt very helpless because I wasn’t her dad. I could only kind of be a consigliere to her.”

“I wanted the kids to know that what we’re shooting now, today, is happening today, and the next three pages of the script will happen tomorrow. What we just shot happened yesterday. I wanted them to actually live a life, a life of the story. At the end of the movie, there’s a lot of emotion, and they were there for every take because they were saying goodbye for real. Because they knew soon they’d be going home.”

With an IMDB rating of 7.9/10, Steven Spielberg’s E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial is currently available on Amazon Prime.
