Lawrence acknowledged feeling nervous before doing her first s*x scene with Chris Pratt in the 2016 film Passengers and getting “really, really drunk” beforehand. It was one of the most vulnerable moments she had ever been because of the guilt that she felt for kissing a married man.
During a roundtable interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Lawrence was frank about the inner conflict she had while filming the intimate sequences. She knew she had to do it for work, but her emotions didn’t seem to be in sync.
She turned to her mother for consolation as she struggled with the conflict between wanting the representation to be accurate and fighting the shame that came with it. “You want to do it real” she added stating that no matter what the scene is the audience has to believe the scene is authentic.
