Rami Malek is one of the most well-known actors in Hollywood. He rose to fame with his portrayal of computer hacker Elliot Anderson in the USA Network TV series Mr. Robot which ran between 2015 and 2019. The series, created by Sam Esmail, received positive reviews for all of his four seasons and is one of the best drama thrillers to date. The series mostly got critical acclaim for Malek and his co-star Christian Slater’s performances.

Rami Malek has starred in projects of a variety of genres and has even won numerous accolades which further stand as proof of his acting prowess. From the fantasy-comedy Night at the Museum trilogy to the biographical musical drama Bohemian Rhapsody, Malek has proved time and time again that he can do whatever is expected of him. despite all this, he was once criticized for his fashion sense.

Show business can be a boon or a bane, depending on how a person reacts to certain elements of it. With all the acclaim and love that a celebrity gets, there is also some criticism and negativity that comes their way. Even the most famous celebrities such as Taylor Swift have not been able to escape the claws of this negativity which can be daunting at times.

Since his rise to fame, Rami Malek has often been an easy target for trolls. One of these trolls came in the form of an Esquire article that had some very satirical comments about the actor’s outfit for Saint Laurent’s SS20 Show in 2019.

The Esquire article, whose headline read “All Hail Rami Malek, Overlord Of Darkness“, said:

“The Dark Age cometh…Or at least it was at Saint Laurent’s SS20 show: a high-performance, well-lit spectacle that turned Paris’ Trocadéro into an exquisite members’ lounge in the Fifth Circle of Hell. And its new crown prince? Rami Malek, the royal arbiter of monochrome, patron saint of party suits, overseer of leather and very, very sexy menswear.”

This was brought up during Malek’s appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert where the actor smugly responded, saying: “Look you wear leather pants, and suddenly, you are Satan.” The response was quite mature as instead of being mad about what was said about him, the actor managed to remain level-headed.

Rami Malek‘s breakthrough role was indeed Sam Esmail’s Mr. Robot. The series not only established him as a leading actor but also helped him break out of the mold that only got him roles based on his ethnicity. He was getting increasingly frustrated about portraying the same kind of characters so he briefly considered retiring from Hollywood.

Thankfully, Rami Malek was unable to do so, and in 2018, he got the chance to portray legendary singer Freddie Mercury in the Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody. His performance in the movie earned him a Golden Globe Award and an Academy Award for Best Actor. His most recent venture is Christopher Nolan’s biopic, Oppenheimer in which he stars as nuclear physicist David L. Hill.
