“You would have thought I was going to die”: Reese Witherspoon Reveals True Nature of Kate Middleton Off Camera and It’s Not Similar to Meghan Markle’s Stories About Her
Meeting the British Royal Family is an honor that many celebrities look forward to. However, Reese Witherspoon did not feel the same until she met the Duchess of Cambridge. The Legally Blonde star got the opportunity to attend a fundraiser in Los Angeles in 2011, where she met Kate Middleton for the first time. The Duchess of Cambridge left quite an impression on the Sweet Home Alabama star. Witherspoon recalled the meeting in her book released in 2018, Whiskey in a Teacup, as she described Middleton as lovely, warm, elegant, and composed.
Reese Witherspoon Recalled Meeting Kate Middleton
Reese Witherspoon shares in her book, Whiskey in a Teacup, that she felt “relatively immune from the obsession with the royals.” However, her thoughts changed after she received an invitation to attend a fundraiser, hosted by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
“The scream that issued from my lips upon receiving [the invitation] – you would have thought I was going to die,” she explained in her book. The Cruel Intentions star further shared that she usually wakes up early in the morning, but on that day she was “up at 4:00 AM” getting ready for the fundraiser.
The Pleasantville star mentioned in her book, “That’s early, even for me. ‘I’ve never seen you this excited,’ my husband said. He wasn’t kidding.” She described Kate Middleton as lovely, warm, elegant, and composed and said, “she did not disappoint!”
Witherspoon also shared that the Duchess also told a joke and was “as magnificent as she seems to be.” Describing her experience meeting Kate Middleton, Reese Witherspoon said that she loved her.
Reese Witherspoon Impressed With Kate Middleton’s Dedication
Reese Witherspoon also praised the Princess of Wales for dedicating herself to service.” She explained that Kate Middleton is a very “compassionate, socially conscious, deeply caring person.” She also shared that she was impressed with Middleton’s commitment to a life where she would be “under public scrutiny every moment.”
The Morning Show star mentioned, “Now that she’s in that position, her entire life is in service, forever. I am so in awe of that kind of dedication.” During her appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Witherspoon shared her excitement to meet the Duchess and hoped that she could be friends with her.
Reese Witherspoon met the Duchess of Cambridge during Tusk Trust’s US Patron’s Circle lunch. The royal couple hosted the fundraiser soon after their marriage in April 2011.
