Zack Snyder would ‘of course’ be down to make a Fortnite movie

Filmmaker Zack Snyder is one of the phenomenal directors who is praised by a lot of fans across the world, is also one of those filmmakers who loves video games. In a recent interview with ETalk, while promoting his recent release Rebel Moon, Snyder was asked if he’d ever consider making a movie on Fortnite. Snyder instantly replied with

“Of course. I really wanted to make some Fortnite skins for the movie Rebel Moon, first of all, just like, as the most obviously basic involvement. But yeah, look, Fortnite is an amazing world, and it is an amazing distraction for me. But it’s really cool, and the alchemy that they have created there is really unique. When I started playing it, I thought I knew what it was, and then it was something entirely different.”

The director continued,

“You definitely don’t know. You can never say never- that’s my mantra in this business.”

This is not the first time Snyder has expressed his fascination and love for Fortnite, during an interview with IGN, he said,

“My son and I got into Fortnite. I kind of wanted to play it with him, and then he didn’t like it, so then I ended up playing it by myself. I went down a bad rabbit hole with Fortnite in the sense that I took a pretty deep dive. I was Meeseeks from Rick and Morty.”

In an interview with WIRED last month, Snyder also revealed that his wife Deborah Snyder got him into changing his hobbies from playing video games; Fortnite to pottery. This was because he had been playing a little too much.

One of the things that sets Zack Snyder apart from other directors is his love for director’s cut and Rebel Moon is no different. Ahead of the release of part one of the movie, Snyder had shared with Netflix PR’s Site that there is indeed going to be a director’s cut for Rebel Moon. He also added that the director’s cut is about an extra hour long and they filmed a couple of scenes, especially for the director’s cut.

In an interview with EW, he explained,

“It’s a full hour longer. It’s not just slightly different or a little bit more. There are big chunks of the movie that are different. A lot more stuff is fleshed out.”

His producing partner Wesley Coller also shared,

“Zack is a world-builder. He loves the layering of a world and the details of a story and the nuances of a character. His process always has him doing so much exploring what’s under the hood, not just what we see on-screen.”
