Zack Snyder’s Justice League: Spin-Off Movies You Will Never Get to See
Zack Snyder’s Justice League has given the hardcore DC Fans what they wanted. The movie takes its sweet little time to elaborate the plot. That was something Zack Snyder had always wanted. Instead of rushing into things, Zack Snyder’s Justice League gives us a clearer picture because it takes its time to show us one. And while doing so, it had opened the windows for multiple potential spin-off movies within the DCEU. So many of those potential projects were shelved because the Snyderverse has been declared dead.
Zack Snyder originally planned to ensure the DCEU has two movies every year starting from 2016. That would have helped set a pace and a foundation for the DCEU. But the plans have not gone according to schedule. The global pandemic aside, the DCEU has not even released half as much as the movie till 2020. There is still a lot of ground to cover. The superhero shared universe stands at a crossroads now. Had it taken a different route aka the Snyderverse, we could have seen a plethora of related projects spinning out of the Snydercut.
The DCEU would have been completely different if Zack Snyder’s Justice League had been allowed to run its course. Here is the full list of movies the Snydercut set up but now stand cancelled.
Justice League 2
Zack Snyder’s Justice League would have given rise to a sequel movie. Had Warner Brothers allowed Snyder to continue with his work, the 4 hour Justice League movie would have been just one of the five installments being planned. Unlike the MCU, which keeps on churning spin-offs and sub-franchises in a never ending cycle, Zack Snyder had a definitive end in mind for the DCEU. Zack Snyder’s Justice League would have paved the way for Justice League 2 and Justice League 3 (more on that in a moment). The five part saga would have begun with Man Of Steel and BVS.

Justice League 2’s plot details are still scarce. Not many secrets have been uncovered. But from what we know, there is the possibility that the second Justice League movie would have taken in the “Knightmare” universe. Darkseid kills Lois Lane and turns Superman into his henchman using the Anti-Life Equation. Justice League 2 would have seen the God of Evil and his armies take on the entirety of DC Superheroes and not just six superheroes as seen in Justice League.
Justice League 3
Justice League 3 was supposedly the last movie, the final culmination of Zack Snyder’s saga. The movie would have seen Batman and the Knightmare team fighting back. Armed to the teeth, the remaining heroes would have fought Darkseid’s army led by Superman. Their end goal would have been to send the Flash back in time. The Flash was supposed to carry back an important message to the past – Lois Lane is the key. After saving Lois and keeping Superman from turning evil, the Justice League would have led the heroes of Earth into one final battle against the Apokoliptian army for the fate of the Earth.

Both Justice League 3 and Justice League 3 sound very ambitious. Since the Snyderverse is dead, it is safe to say there is very little chance we could ever see the two projects kick into gear. Until and unless Zack Snyder’s Justice League is an enormous success, WB might not chip in. Only if the movie soars high so much that a Studio is ready to pour back millions of dollars into a dead universe could we see Justice League 2 and 3 in action anytime soon. That, logically speaking, sounds too good to be true.
The Batman
As seen in the Injustice League scene in the movie, Lex Luthor and Deathstroke were supposed to join forces. After BVS, it was reported that Ben Affleck would return as the Dark Knight once again in a Batman solo movie. A while later, Affleck distanced himself from all DCEU projects. Matt Reeves took over the Batman project and cast Robert Pattinson in the role. The Batman movie starring Afflck in the lead role. was supposed to show Deathstroke going after Bruce Wayne. After deducing Batman’s true identity, the world’s greatest mercenary would have initiated plans to take down the Caped Crusader.
Deathstroke
Joe Mangeniello once claimed that there was a time seven different Deathstroke projects were in the works post BVS. Gareth Evans was supposed to write and direct. Three years after the rumors started surfacing, it was revealed that Evans was never a part of any Detahstroke project in official authority. The studio never put him in charge for a Deathstroke spinoff. Evans had earlier implied that his version of a Deathstroke movie would have been an unforgiving origin story unlike anything else anybody has ever seen.
The Atom
Zheng Kai stars as Ryan Choi, Director of Nanotechnology at Star Labs in Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Choi, in DC Comics, is the third character to assume the mantle of The Atom. using nanotechnology, Choi gains the ability to shrink himself down to molecular levels. Zack Snyder has pitched the idea for an Atom movie featuring Zheng Kai again. The movie would have had an all Chinese cast and would have been set in China.
Cyborg
Ray Fisher delivered an exceptional performance as Cyborg in Zack Snyder’s Justice League. The director was not kidding when he said the actor was the heart and soul of the movie. Despite a stellar performance, Ray Fisher is unlikely to return. The recent investigations of misconduct, led by a flurry of allegations by Ray Fisher against Warner Brothers and Joss Whedon, may have sealed the deal for Fisher. Had a Cyborg movie come across, we might also have been able to see Fisher in The Flash movie.
Green Lantern Corps
Featuring a dead Kilowog in the Knightmare sequence with Yalan Gur in the flashback scene, it is safe to assume a solid foundation for a Green Lantern movie was being laid out. But instead of featuring a single Lantern, the movie would have been about the entire Green lantern Corps, a superhuman peacekeeping force that patrols the universe. WB Studios’ 2014 slate even had the green Lantern corps movie as the final instalment to the slate. With HBO max forwarding their own Green Lantern series, this project seems pointless and redundant now.
Man Of Steel 2
Another ambitious sequel project that will never see the light of day, Man of steel 2 would have been a dream come true for many DC fans. In more ways than one, Justice League 2 and 3 would have been a massive character development arc for Superman. By the time Man Of Steel 2 came, Henry Cavill’s character would have blossomed into the classic Superman we all loved and adored. Now that DC Films is moving forward with a Superman reboot with a Black Superman in the cards, Man Of Steel 2 is but a distant dream.
Wonder Woman 2
Diana was in a conundrum of sorts after Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Steppenwolf claimed he had decimated Themyscira and killed all her people. Diana did not believe her. At the end of the movie, Diana will probably travel back to Paradise Island and see the truth for herself, the arrow of Artemis will guide her back. Wonder Woman 1984 took a different approach with the story. This version of wonder Woman 2 has by all accounts withered and died.
