Jerry Seinfeld is the famous comedian known for his funny take on everyday life. His career spans decades, from successful stand-up routines to the legendary sitcom. His style of humor is famous for being clean and not offensive.

He stays away from profanity and instead focuses on observations rather than shock value. His rise to fame with the sitcom Seinfeld (the show where he played a fictional version of himself) was meteoric, but his life has also had its fair share of ups and downs.

Despite his huge fame, Seinfeld’s life has been filled with controversy. And, he’s the one who himself actively seeks it out. Whether it’s dating someone much younger or talking about being autistic without a diagnosis, his actions made people raise their eyebrows.

Jerry Seinfeld’s Controversial Choices Reflects His Desire for Challenge

Jerry Seinfeld isn’t afraid to wade into unexpected things. In 2007, he surprised a lot of people by telling NBC that he might be on the autism spectrum. This upset some parents of autistic children because they thought it was insensitive. Later, Seinfeld retracted his remarks.

That’s not the only controversial instance in his life. In 1993, when the Brooklyn native was 38 years old, he started dating 17-year-old Shoshanna Lonstein. They met in Central Park when she was still in high school. Some thought it was not right, especially because of their big age difference.

Seinfeld told People that he “didn’t realize she was so young,” and that they only went out to eat once. But the two were seen together a lot, even when Lonstein was in college. They dated for about four years, and there were rumors that the actor wanted to marry her (via Nicki Swift). However, his next marriage also had its own problems.

After splitting up with Lonstein, the NewsRadio star met Jessica Sklar in 1998, and they hit it off right away. But there was a big issue: Sklar was already married to a man named Eric Nederlander. Despite this, Seinfeld and Sklar got engaged in 1999.

The author’s ex-husband wasn’t too happy about it. He told the New York Post, they [Seinfeld and Sklar] have “no respect for decent values.” Seinfeld’s friends even doubted the engagement because they thought he loved being single. However, the couple are still married and have three kids together. But that’s not all – his controversial choices go beyond these.

Jerry Seinfeld was the one who himself sought out a challenging life, and his choices reflect that. In an interview with Graham Bensinger, he said:

“I knew I wanted to live a difficult life. I craved a difficult circumstance. I don’t know, but I think you just know it sometimes when you’re a kid, I don’t want to do anything easy.”

The 70-year-old made a clear decision to face tough times instead of looking for an easy way out. This willingness to deal with difficult situations shows up in many parts of his life, both personal and professional (as mentioned).
