One Piece anime is working its way through the chaos of the Egghead Arc and the latest episode has revealed that Stussy, previously known as an emperor of the Underworld and the Queen of the Pleasure District, is a spy working against the World Government.

She was first introduced as Big Mom’s guest during the Whole Cake Island Arc. The most recent episode discloses that she has a significant role to play in the One Piece world, and the animators went all out to establish that. Toei Animation did not hold back while introducing the surprising twist with Stussy’s Devil Fruit transformation.

In Episode 1104, CP0’s Stussy revealed a vampiric transformation, surprising both Lucci and Kaku with the unexpected betrayal of one of their members. A lot can be said in favor of Toei Animation as it surpassed all expectations with the portrayal of Stussy.

Toei Animation has been dynamic while depicting the One Piece characters whether it be the rubbery and cartoony Luffy in his Gear 5 form or the stoic and disciplined Roronoa Zoro. The latest episode of One Piece once again shows its range when it comes to animation with the character of Stussy.

Not only did they portray her accurately but the animation team enhanced the various shades of her character, who was revealed to be an ally of Dr. Vegapunk. This episode serves as a true turning point in Stussy’s character, where she is reintroduced as an undercover agent who successfully infiltrated the World Government.

Previously depicted as a cheerful character, the anime effectively depicts her transformation into a devilish figure with sharp fangs and wings, before reverting to a playful and cunning character. The anime extends her scenes, particularly when she bites Kaku and puts him to sleep.

Stussy’s eyes have a strange quality about them when her face is fully revealed, which was not rendered properly through Eiichiro Oda’s illustrations. These slight modifications in her expressions are significant because they show how Stussy is a multifaceted character and not a regular, monotonous figure.

Stussy’s portrayal in the latest episode of the anime has drawn an amazing response from One Piece fans, as they seem satisfied with Stussy taking the central stage. This is reflected as fans flood social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter) to praise Toei Animation for its quality.

However, it seems like not everyone is happy with this development as there are some negative comments as well.

Admittedly, the episode did not do justice to Kaku’s attacks, which were far more grittier in the manga. For now, the series will probably continue to focus on Stussy. Meanwhile, some viewers are confused about Stussy and look forward to learning more about her powers.

These responses show that the animation studio has done a good job with the depiction of her character. Stussy’s rise to prominence through this episode seems justified. Fans are intrigued by her character because she is a clone of Buckingham Stussy and the interest surrounding her mysterious Devil Fruit powers.

The One Piece anime series is currently available to stream on Prime Video and Crunchyroll. The live adaptation of One Piece is available on Netflix.
