While he is doing his best to make a comeback after engaging in years of a legal battle against his former wife, Amber Heard, he is known for his great deeds. There was a time when he willingly donated an entire film’s paycheck to his co-star’s daughter.

The Australian actor, Heath Ledger was working on his last project, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus at the time of his death. A mind-bending fantasy film got quite successful and even got nominated for two Academy Awards. Ledger was midway through the filming when he passed away due to an apparent accidental overdose in January 2008.
His untimely death was quite a shock for everyone however the half-finished project being the former’s last piece got saved by Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell, and Jude Law who portrayed versions of his character, Tim in the film out of deep respect for the star.
As per the reports at the time, the trio had donated the film’s earnings they made to the late actor’s daughter Matilda. As per the reports by The Sun via The Telegraph at the time, they were concerned about her future as the late star had not updated his will to include his then 2-year-old daughter at the time of his demise. To avoid any financial trouble, they decided to donate the money to her.
While he had done such a great job in the past, he had to go through major legal trouble due to his ex-wife Amber Heard.

The former pair got married in a secret Los Angeles ceremony in 2015 after dating for several years. However, their relationship was quite short-lived as the actress filed for divorce the next year.
Things got eerie when she claimed that she was a “domestic abuse” victim in 2018 op-ed she wrote in The Washington Post. While she had not named the 59-year-old actor in the article, the effects were quite extreme for him as he lost major projects with one being the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.
Due to the same, he filed a defamation lawsuit demanding $50 million from his ex-wife for affecting his reputation. The trial started in April last year with the actor having an upper hand as he won the case. The actress eventually settled with him as her insurance company agreed to pay Depp $1 million, thus ending the case for good.
