Unexpectedly, a cosmic disruption appears to be delaying the release of the future MCU films, including the eagerly awaited Deadpool 3 with the outspoken Ryan Reynolds and the much-awaited character by Florence Pugh in Thunderbolts. We will unveil the four films that are most likely to be postponed along with the anticipated release dates for each.

Possible Delays Threaten Upcoming Phase 5 Marvel Movies

A number of big film productions have already been affected by the ongoing Writers Guild of America (WGA) and Screen Actors Guild (SAG-AFTRA) strikes, and with no indication of when they could finish, certain Phase 5 MCU films are at risk of being postponed. This could definitely be sad news for the Marvel fans who are waiting for their favorite MCU films but as the strikes continue nothing can promise the release of the movies. Here are the four MCU films that are expected to get delayed.

1.  Deadpool 3

Deadpool 3‘s initial release date was changed from its original goal of November 8, 2024, to May 3, 2024, with Ryan Reynolds playing the lead. Marvel Studios organized this change, which even resulted in an early start to production that, regrettably, was quickly stopped owing to continuing industry strikes. Though not officially confirmed, Deadpool 3 missing from Disney’s upcoming movie list Sept 2023 – June 2024 sparks doubt. With much filming and post-production left, a probable delay would mean a return to the original Nov 2024 slot.

2. Captain America: Brave New World

Sam Wilson‘s enlarged role in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier was followed by Captain America: Brave New World, which is his first solo appearance as Captain America. The movie’s official release date was moved from May 3, 2024, to July 26, 2024. Although the majority of the filming is over, it should be noted that some reshooting is still necessary, depending on how the current strikes are resolved.

3. Thunderbolts

Breaking the mold in the MCU, Thunderbolts of Florence Pugh focuses on anti-heroes and former villains. Initially set for July 26, 2024, the release shifted to December 20, 2024. Yet to start filming and hampered by ongoing strikes, the movie might now debut in May 2025, if production restarts early next year.

Get ready to sink your teeth into the highly anticipated Blade, starring the incredible Mahershala Ali. Ever since the electrifying announcement in 2019, fans have been on the edge of their seats. Set for a thrilling debut on September 6, 2024, the release date was later shifted to February 12, 2025. However, with filming yet to begin, a new probable release date of July 2025 is looming.

If the ongoing Writers Guild of America (WGA) and Screen Actors Guild (SAG-AFTRA) strike wrap-up around October, these MCU projects may experience only modest delays. Yet, the uncertain nature of the situation means that anything remains possible, leaving fans on tenterhooks
