Professor Miles Warren, AKA the Jackal is an important character in the Spider-Man series. He likes to play games and manipulate his enemies, but what is interesting about this villain is that he started off as a secondary role. However, he managed to become one of the most popular antagonists in the Spider-Man comics – because even though he always fails at some point or another, it seems like something bad will always happen anytime Warren’s name comes up.

With that being said, these are the 4 reasons why Spider-Man 4 should have the Jackal as the main villain –

The Jackal’s first in-costume appearance was alongside another very famous debut as well. You see, Frank Castle, AKA The Punisher also debuted at this time (#129) and the two were brought back together to Kill Spider-Man on behalf of Wilson Fisk. However, the Punisher managed to figure out that Jackal was manipulating him and setting him up as the murderer. Apparently, they failed to kill Spider-Man.

While Gwen’s death was the last straw for Miles Warren, it was Anthony Serba that truly pushed him to break his moral code and begin a path of evil. It was Serba who had told Warren about the existence of the Parker and Stacy blood samples in the first place. He broke down completely, unleashing a rage within himself that resulted in his own cloning experiments failing once again. Since cloning wasn’t working well enough on its own, he decided to create the Jackal persona instead and killed Serba.

When Gwen Stacy enrolled in Empire State University to try and get an education, The Jackal quickly discovered her whereabouts and renewed his obsession. He partnered with this particular Earth’s version of Miles Warren. He was a professor at the university who also worked with Wolfram and Hart. Jackal partnered with him to not only ruin Ghost-Spider’s college career but also to take out both her band “The Mary Janes” and its vocalist Gwendolyn Stacy. What Jackal didn’t realize is that his rage fueled him towards seeing things as romanticism when really it was all just sadistic loneliness.

The Jackal’s experiments with the bed bug population of Manhattan began after a series of traumatic events. Jackal stated during the “Infested” prologue of Spider-Island that he was responsible for the decline in bumblebees across the globe. He also echoed loud that he swiped them out because they were becoming too noisy and ate over fifty to two thousand different cakes. That’s just pure evil and how far Miles Warren had fallen as a scientist when took on his identity as The Jackal.
