MCU Wanted To Further Explore Their Bond
Initially, MCU was in favor of exploring the friendship between Hawkeye and Black Widow further. They were meant to make an appearance during the developmental phases of Iron Man 2. However, Hawkeye couldn’t live up to that. He was also set to make another appearance on Captain America: The Winter Soldier. These were nothing more than some true-sounding rumors. But fans can find themselves imagining how the friendship would have turned out if the rumors were true.
Replaced Relationship: Black Widow and Hulk
The movies replaced Black Widow’s potential relationship with Hawkeye by pairing her up with the Hulk. It’s strange how the two of them couldn’t get along in the comics. However, director Joe Russo made it clear that they weren’t in favor of directly translating the comic books to the movies. He believed there wasn’t any point in going to see the movies when the audience already knew how it was going to end.
No Real Superpowers
Clint Barton made abundantly clear that Iron Man was nothing other than a regular Jo with sophisticated high-tech gadgets. Black Widow also had some energy blasters and high-tech gadgets with skill training. But both of them never really had any real superpowers. Even though they are the king and queen of martial arts, there is nothing magical about what they do.
