6 Celebrities Who Have Supported Blake Lively After She Accused Justin Baldoni of Sexual Misconduct During ‘It Ends With Us’
- Blake Lively has accused Justin Baldoni of sexual misconduct and received public support from many celebrities.
- 'It Ends With Us' author Colleen Hoover, along with Lively's former co-stars and sister Robyn Lively, praised her for standing up against adversity.
- Amy Schumer, Paul Feig, and Shawn Levy have also condemned the alleged smear campaign against Lively.
It seems like the success of It Ends With Us is getting overshadowed by the recent controversies. The film based on Colleen Hoover’s novel on the theme of domestic violence was directed by Justin Baldoni and starred Baldoni and Blake Lively in the lead roles.
Lively recently filed a lawsuit against Baldoni, accusing him of sexual harassment and attempting to ruin her reputation. Although the investigation is still going on, Lively has gotten some support from her fellow actors and other celebs. Here are some celebs who have publicly supported Lively.
Colleen Hoover
It Ends With Us is based on the novel of the best-selling author Colleen Hoover. Her support carries a lot of weight, especially because the writer has been closely associated with the production of the movie from start to finish.
The author took to Instagram and expressed her support to Blake Lively. She wrote in her Instagram story (via The Mirror),
@blakelively you have been nothing but honest, kind, supportive and patient since the day we met. Thank you for being exactly the human that you are. Never change. Never wilt.
Besides this, she also reposted the post shared by Lively’s co-stars from Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and said, “This statement from these women and Blake’s ability to refuse to sit down and ‘be buried’ has been nothing short of inspiring.” Such statements from Hoover show her belief in Lively’s integrity and add credibility to her claims.
America Ferrera, Amber Tamblyn, and Alexis Bledel
America Ferrera, Amber Tamblyn, and Alexis Bledel had previously worked with Lively in Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, and the former costars recently shared a joint statement through an Instagram post with the caption, “In support of our sister, Blake.” They stated,
As Blake’s friends and sisters for over 20 years, we stand with her in solidarity as she fights back against the reported campaign waged to destroy her reputation.
They also weighed in on the allegations (via Daily Mail), where Lively’s inputs and opinions were reportedly dismissed by Justin Baldoni.
Throughout the filming of It Ends with Us, we saw her summon the courage to ask for a safe workplace for herself and colleagues on set, and we are appalled to read the evidence of a premeditated and vindictive effort that ensured to discredit her voice. Most upsetting is the unabashed exploitation of domestic violence survivors’ stories to silence a woman who asked for safety.
“The hypocrisy is astounding,” they further added. They ended their statement by asking people who are interested further to read The New York Times article to get the full knowledge of the legal complaints.
Robyn Lively
Blake’s sister Robyn Lively, who has also appeared in It Ends With Us in the role of Ms. Byland, has openly spoken about the issue and expressed her support for her sister. Sharing screenshots of The New York Times article, she wrote on Instagram,
Proud that she has handled herself with such grace and didn’t cave, that she didn’t allow herself to be silenced in the face of adversity and lies. I hope this gives others the strength to do the same.
Robyn also mentioned the marketing campaign of the movie, stating, “Mistakes were made, but she isn’t the creative behind these decisions and shouldn’t shoulder the sole responsibility for them.” This further tells that the rift observed by many during the promotions had a big role to play in the whole scenario.
Amy Schumer
Trainwreck actress and popular comedian Amy Schumer also offered her support to Blake Lively. She took to her Instagram stories and wrote a straightforward message that said, “I Believe Blake.”
However, Schumer’s support carries extra weight as they both share a history. According to Deadline, Schumer once said that she and Lively are “not close friends” after she roasted her on her Inside Amy Schumer sketch.
Paul Feig
Paul Feig has shared his personal experience working with Lively, as both have collaborated in A Simple Favor and its upcoming sequel. The director shared a post on X stating,
I’ve now made two movies with Blake and all I can say is she’s one of the most professional, creative, collaborative, talented and kind people I’ve ever worked with.
Feig also expressed his disappointment in the “smear campaign” against Lively, as he feels “she truly did not deserve any of this.” His opinions hold some weight in the context, as the director has firsthand experience working with Lively.
Shawn Levy
Shawn Levy has been a close friend of Lively’s husband, Ryan Reynolds, and he is also the godfather of their son. According to The Independent, the director shared a screenshot of The New York Times article and wrote, “Proud to call Blake Lively a friend.”
According to TMZ, the management of It Ends With Us was called for a meeting after the alleged hostile behavior from Justin Baldoni, where certain demands were made from Lively. However, Baldoni’s lawyer opposed the allegations. The situation is still developing as many other celebs are also sharing their opinions and inputs as the case moves forward.
It Ends With Us is available to stream on Netflix.
