Thor: Love and Thunder – Brilliant Comic Book References You Missed
The upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder movie will be the most faithful MCU production when it comes to the source material. Practically, every major detail has appeared in some shape or form in the comics; look at Thor’s new blue and gold armor, for example. The details included in scenes are becoming increasingly specific, too – like the many direct references to comic-book panels and images. That being said, these are some of the brilliant comic book references from the Thor: Love and Thunder trailer that you must’ve missed –
Thor: Love and Thunder: The Classic Thor Costume
The classic costume that Thor is wearing and running in the recently released trailer is a comic book reference. It resembles its comic book counterpart and is worn when you first see Thor running through the woods. This is a reference to his classic outfit with amazing detail that pays homage to former artists that drew him whenever he appeared during his original run.

Thor: Love and Thunder: The Blue And Gold Armor
The Thor armor that’s been unveiled looks a lot like the one from Walt Simonson’s iconic run on the series in the 80s. But in the movie, it appears to be less enclosing and bulky than its comic book counterpart, so we think it might be a completely new look. Its origins may differ, too.
Thor: Love and Thunder: The New Asgard
One of the major comic book references in Thor: Love and Thunder’s trailer is the New Asgard, the new home of the surviving Asgardian inhabitants. In the comics, the city was transported from its extradimensional realm to Oklahoma, but in the MCU, it’s simply a relocation of their old settlement now situated near Tønsberg in Norway.

Thor: Love and Thunder: Jane Foster
Jane Foster has always been one of the most powerful heroines in Marvel comics, but her movie counterpart is a bit interesting. Not only does she wield Mjolnir, which makes her essentially the Goddess of Thunder, but she also happens to be Thor’s love interest. Now, this may come as a shock for some people, but Jane Foster’s MCU costume does in fact look and feel very comic book accurate with only minor changes, such as the color palette being shifted slightly darker and shady than how it looked in the comics.

Thor: Love and Thunder: Falligar The Behemoth
The biggest and most noticeable comic book reference in the trailer highlights Falligar The Behemoth who happens to be Thor’s opponent in Thor God of Thunder #3, a comic book that came out in 2012. Just like in the trailer, he is huge. However, the only thing that is different between the comic and the trailer about this character is that both Thor and Korg are present together in the trailer, whereas in the comic, only Thor appears.
