What Is the Release Date for From Far Away?

Mark your calendars, because From Far Away officially drops on October 4, 2026 (as per the official website). The anime will air on TOKYO MX, ABC TV, and WOWOW in Japan, making it a proper Fall 2026 release.
TOKYO MX gets it first, airing weekly starting Sunday, October 4, at 24:00 JST, which is technically just after midnight, so early Monday. ABC TV picks it up about a week later, starting Saturday, October 10, at 2:30 AM, also weekly. WOWOW will also be rolling out new episodes.
The timing isn’t random, as this adaptation is happening to celebrate the manga’s 35th anniversary, since it first started serialization all the way back in 1991. The original From Far Away manga ran in Hakusensha’s LaLa magazine from 1991 to 2002, spanning 14 volumes. It even won the Seiun Award in 2004, which is basically a huge deal in the sci-fi and fantasy manga world.
However, as there’s no streaming platform confirmed yet, we still have no information about when and where the anime will be releasing worldwide.
From Far Away Is an Isekai With a Dark Twist

If you’re into Isekai and Shoujo genres alike, this anime is perfect for you. The story here centers on Noriko, who gets transported to another world after she gets roped into a dangerous explosion. One thing that’s good about this anime is that it treats teleporting to another world with a sprinkle of realism, as Noriko doesn’t even speak the language of these new lands.
After being saved by a stoic man named Izark, she decides to follow him in order to learn more about the world and language, and possibly repay him as well. However, it turns out that she is actually part of something much bigger. The prophecy of Awakening dictates that she is the one who will unleash the world’s greatest threat. Hence, she gets roped into the politics surrounding that.
To make things messier, Izark starts getting sick during their journey together, and it’s revealed that he himself is the Sky Demon in human form. So basically, the guy Noriko’s falling for is fated to become the exact apocalypse she’s connected to. At its core, it’s a romance anime, but with actual stakes attached, since their bond might be what triggers the end of the world instead of saving it.
Cast and Production: Everything We Know
The anime’s got a solid, experienced team behind it. Directing duties go to Noriyuki Abe, whom you might recognize from his work on Bleach and Yu Yu Hakusho. Series composition is being handled by Rika Takasugi, and the score is being composed by Takeshi Hama. Original creator Kyoko Hikawa is also supervising the project, so fans of the manga can expect the adaptation to stay true to her vision rather than veering off in a totally different direction.
| CHARACTER | VOICE ACTOR/ACTRESS | PREVIOUS ROLES |
| Izark Kia Tarj | Kentarou Kumagai | – Laios from Dungeon Meshi – Dae-wi Han from The God of High School |
| Noriko Tachiki | Tomoyo Kurosawa | – Phosphophyllite from Land of the Lustrous – Rebecca from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Mitsumi from Skip and Loafer |
| Rachef | Yuuichirou Umehara | – Goblin Slayer from Goblin Slayer – Anos from The Misfit of Demon King Academy – Seiya from Cautious Hero |
| Keimos Lee Goda | Eiji Takeuchi | – Sudou from Classroom of the Elite |
The studio behind the animation is Studio Deen, which has handled plenty of shojo and fantasy titles before, so they’re a pretty fitting pick for a series like this that leans heavily into both romance and world-building.
From Far Away Trailer and Streaming Info: Where to Watch

The teaser clearly lays out everything. While in terms of animation, it is not quite up to the current standard, it does set the tone of the original manga perfectly. We can see all the major characters’ designs, and the voice actors are doing an amazing job – especially with the made-up language that Noriko doesn’t really understand.
It appears that, as for the art, Studio Deen has decided to stick to the 90s art style, matching the era from which the manga belongs. This isn’t something new; Science SARU recently did something similar with The Ghost in the Shell remake.
As for where you’ll actually be able to watch it once it airs, that part’s still not confirmed properly. No international streaming platform has been officially announced yet, so whether it lands on Crunchyroll or elsewhere is still unconfirmed.
