The news of Wellander’s death was announced by his family through an online statement. Without mentioning details about his ailment and the cause of his demise, the Swedish musician’s family simply informed his fans and the world about his journey to the afterlife.

Playing a total of 24 recordings of ABBA and releasing the latest Voyage album in 2021, guitarist Lasse Wellander died on Good Friday. Wellander’s family shared the heartbreaking news with the world through an online message. Informing his fans about his battle with cancer, the Swedish musician’s family wrote a heartfelt statement.

It is with indescribable sadness that we have to announce that our beloved Lasse has fallen asleep.”

Starting to play guitar as a child in Sweden, Lasse Wellander’s legacy rests in peace, with his demise. Winning the hearts of his fans with his music, Wellander left the world mourning his death. His family shared in the statement, “Lasse recently fell ill with what turned out to be cancer that had spread,”. Informing his fans of his ailment, his family further mentioned, “Early on Good Friday he passed away surrounded by his loved ones”.
