Rachel Zegler has taken the internet by storm with her loud and clear political opinion against Donald Trump and his supporters. She recently went on a full-fledged rant expressing her disapproval of Trump and criticized everyone who has voted for him.
It has become quite common for celebrities to publicly express their political opinions, so it does not make Zegler an exception. However, fans are not very happy about this and some even brought up Disney’s unfair treatment of actress Gina Carano when she did something similar in 2021.
Rachel Zegler’s Rant Leads Fans to Troll Disney for How the Company Treated Gina Carano
Rachel Zegler first gained recognition for her leading role in Steven Spielberg’s 2021 musical film West Side Story, which earned her the Gloden Globe Award for Best Actress in Motion Picture Musical or Comedy category. Since then, she has become part of some major franchises such as The Hunger Games and even the DCEU.
She recently made her Broadway debut and is busy portraying Juliet in the musical adaptation, Romeo + Juliet. One of her major upcoming projects is the live-action adaptation of the animated Disney film, Snow White, in which she plays the titular character.
Zegler posted a series of Instagram stories in which she openly criticized Donald Trump and everyone who supported him. An X user took to posting screenshots of her stories in which she wrote: “may trump supporters and trump voters and trump himself never know peace.”
Her comments have led to a wide public backlash and some even called out Disney for firing Gina Carano when she publicly voiced some of her controversial opinions. Here is what some of them had to say:

While everyone is entitled to their opinions, the public outrage over Zegler’s comments seems understandable because Carano was fired for doing something similar. However, a lot of the outrage seems to be more toward Disney than Zegler.
Gina Carano Was Fired from Her Role in The Mandalorian After Making Some Controversial Social Media Posts
In 2021, Carano was fired from her role as Star Wars mercenary Cara Dune in The Mandalorian after appearing in the first two seasons. Besides taking a stand against COVID-19 vaccines throughout the pandemic and making posts suggesting that the 2020 presidential election was rigged, she spread misinformation on both of these topics.
To make matters worse, she reposted a post that compared having different political opinions with being a Jew in Nazi Germany. Soon after, Disney released a statement (via EW) publicly firing Carano which was a huge blow to her since she told The Hollywood Reporter that she was not personally informed about the decision.
Earlier this year, she filed a lawsuit against Disney in California federal court alleging wrongful termination and discrimination (via EW). She revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that X owner Elon Musk is footing her legal bills and helping her fight against the injustice done to her.
