However, before finally signing Brie Larson as Carol Danvers for the MCU, some casting rumors that were just out of this world went viral. It sounded like the producers had their hands full with how many actresses are throwing their name out there so they must really need someone who can command attention while holding two movies at once. Yvonne Strahovski
We’re certain that if you’ve played a super spy in the last ten years then you were on the long list to play Captain Marvel. Rumors were floating around about how much of a fan Strahovski is of Marvel and her interest to be a part of that universe and well as fostering some excitement around the possibility.
Katheryn Winnick
Winnick’s portrayal of the fierce Lagertha in Vikings is what helped put her on the map for many television enthusiasts. Even though fans were hoping to see her as a contender for Captain Marvel, Winnick is just thankful for all the interest fans have shown in seeing more of Lagertha coming from a prominent period drama.

From the moment Captain Marvel was announced we have had numerous choices for who would play Carol Danvers. Some people thought there couldn’t be anyone better than Brie Larson before we even knew she would be in it. But J Law has been making movies since 2007 and has the experience that most actors don’t have, let alone most actresses. This made her overqualified to carry such an important role in one of Marvel’s largest series consisting almost entirely of superheroes.
Charlize Theron
In 2015, some prominent sources reported that Marvel’s president of production Kevin Feige wanted to pair Charlize Theron with Angelina Jolie for the part of Carol Danvers / Captain Marvel. Both actresses have worked on action-intense movies in the past, so there’s no doubt they’d be great together. However, many people wonder if Jolie, who is now stepping behind the camera and said to be directing an upcoming film with Brad Pitt, might be more interested in a more creative role than one where her prowess as an actress would come into play.
Ronda Rousey
While she’s known to the world as UFC champ Ronda Rousey, she has stated that she would like to play Carol Danvers. Although Marvel execs maintain they don’t see eye-to-eye with this idea, many entertainment sources are touting her as the lesser expensive choice if they insist on recasting Brie Larson after her upcoming solo sequel.
