“Actual talent for spotting artists”: Chainsaw Man Writer Tatsuki Fujimoto has Built an Army of Gifted Assistants with Fascinating Independent Works
Lately, it seems like Shueisha is on a roll, having brought another series to life for its readers. Centuria manga made an epic debut on April 4, 2024, by Tatsuki Fujimoto’s editor, Tohru Kuramori. For the uninformed, Tatsuki Fujimoto is the creator of Chainsaw Man, an explosive and unconventional entry in the new-gen shonen genre.
Centuria joins the ranks of other dark fantasy series with the premise set around a slave who’s given the powers and life force of a hundred slaves.
According to the raving fans, what makes the series so good is the eerie atmosphere and Kuramori cashes in on it from the beginning. Moreover, the artwork is enigmatic, bold, and striking, leaving a lasting impression on the reader’s mind.
The manga has six chapters for now, but Centuria fans can expect more to come. Fans are stunned that Tatsuki Fujimoto has been hiding such a talent and the dark, ambitious tale is sure to entice readers.
Tatsuki Fujimoto Might Have a Talent For Spotting Artists
Apart from Tohru Kuramori, Tatsuki Fujimoto has insane luck when it comes to spotting assistants with massive talent. An X user, @Chainsawpedia, posted a screenshot of a Centuria manga panel, along with the caption: “WHAT THE F-K IS FUJIMOTO FEEDING HIS ASSISTANT??!” There is no doubt that all of Fujimoto’s assistants are skilled.
There’s Hell’s Paradise‘s Tatsuya Endo and Yuji Kaku, Spy x Family and Dandadan‘s Yukinobu Tatsu, and now Tohru Kuramori.

Another X user, @lkawlafhjsdlk, stated that Fujimoto either had insane luck in pulling these assistants or has an actual talent for spotting artists. No matter what it is, it is a win-win situation for Fujimoto.
Most readers might not be familiar with the creator of Centuria by name, but he has been quite occupied with work. Kuramori was also the editor on Goodbye Eri, one of Fujimoto’s best one-shot mangas. Kuramori has also worked on other solo projects such as Chikyuu Kuroku 0001 and Killer Parent.

More About Tatsuki Fujimoto, The Creator Of Chainsaw Man
Tatsuki Fujimoto’s Chainsaw Man is considered one of modern anime’s Dark Trio. Fujimoto is considered an eccentric and unorthodox figure in the manga world. His personality is more peculiar than his most influential work, Chainsaw Man.
Despite that, or perhaps because of that, Chainsaw Man is already regarded as a modern classic, and its immensely successful anime adaptation only boosted its popularity.
There are uncountable mangas out there and most are lost in the ocean of mangas released every month. However, the aspect of Chainsaw Man that makes the series so unforgettable is its quirky, eccentric sensibilities.
The manga is simultaneously a surreal comedy, a gritty and violent dark fantasy about a world crammed with devils, and a genuinely touching drama that makes the fans emotional. The series takes twists and turns in an unfathomable manner, and maybe it is a reflection of the author himself.
You can read Centuria in MANGA Plus by Shueisha.
