Adidas Reportedly Begging Kanye West to Return After Suffering Debilitating Loss Due to Unsold Yeezys as Mega Brand Dropped Rapper for Controversial Comments
When huge business deals come to abrupt ends, it usually leads to huge financial losses. With Addidas, something similar is happening reportedly. After the termination of the collaboration with Kanye West or Ye’s Yeezy brand, the German brand is still left with a huge number of products associated with Yeezy and the rapper. And it is popular knowledge that the Heartless rapper is known for his problematic remarks. The very reason the brand deal got terminated was due to the antisemitic remarks made by West.
And since he got canceled over the insensitive take on the Jewish community, buyers might not want to purchase products from Adidas associated with Ye’s brand. This has reportedly put a lot of pressure on the corporation. There is a need for a solution that would slash the loss that the German brand might face. Amid this, a rumor has been making the rounds on the internet about Adidas looking to get back with West’s Yeezy collaboration. But it is only a rumor and there has been no official confirmation as of yet.
Does Adidas Want Kanye West Back Amid Financial Loss?
After the backlash Kanye West Or Ye faced over his antisemitic remarks, Adidas was one of the last to terminate its collaboration with the rapper’s brand, Yeezy. Although the German brand cut ties with Yeezy, it still has a ton of shoes from the collaboration in stock. Currently, this is the biggest problem that Adidas is facing. It is most likely that people would not be purchasing products that are associated with the rapper and his brand. But the leftover shoes cannot be ignored easily. Various options have been put forward that could be adopted to deal with the possible loss.
According to reports, without “repurposing” the shoes, the German sports brand might face a loss amounting to around 533 million dollars. But even repurposing will cost a lot and disposing of is not an option in regards to the environment. However, it was also reported that Adidas might rekindle its association with the Praise God rapper. This comes amid the predictions of financial loss that the brand might be going through. Some Twitter users reacted to the rumor, with one writing, “They need him lol”. And another responded with, “Lmaooo just shows you business and politics don’t mix”.
But again, it is just a rumor for now. Neither the brand nor any reliable source has confirmed anything as of yet.
Adidas and Yeezy Collaboration History
Back in 2013, Kanye West struck a deal with Adidas to start a collaboration between the German brand and his Yeezy brand. It was a successful partnership that went on for almost a decade. However, the rapper’s problematic and insensitive strings of remarks and comments finally led to the end of the collaboration. It was announced on the 25th of October last year after many celebrities called out West for his anti-Semitic tweets and comments. The brand released a statement saying,
“Adidas does not tolerate antisemitism and any other sort of hate speech”
Adidas had been the largest corporate backup of the rapper among all his other business ties.
