After 31 Years, Danny DeVito Wants to Play Penguin Again: “It’s mine!”
Although Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight film series is considered one of the best Batman movies out there, Tim Burton’s Batman film starring Michael Keaton as the titular hero is one of the most memorable too. Keaton even reprised the role after 31 years in this year’s The Flash.
With that, there seems to be another actor who is willing to take up the Tim Burton Batman role. And he is none other than Danny DeVito, who played the role of the Penguin in the 1992 Batman Returns. The 78-year-old actor recently opened up about this wish as he is looking forward to an upcoming project.
Danny DeVito is Down To Reprise His Role as Batman’s Antagonist The Penguin
Recently Veteran Hollywood actor Danny DeVito revealed that he was down to reprise the role of The Penguin from Batman Returns (1992). The character whose alter ego is Oswald Cobblepot is one of the caped Crusaders’ most enduring adversaries. Residing in Gotham City, this supervillain is one of the most persistent and implacable enemies of all.
It debuted live-action in 1992 Tim Burton directed Batman Returns. And as DeVito’s co-star, Michael Keaton reprised his role of the Gotham City hero after 31 years in the latest DCEU project The Flash, the 78-year-old actor also expressed his desire to reprise his role.
He seems down for the idea as he opened up with SFX magazine recently. Talking about the character he said,
“Yeah, it’s here! It’s mine! What? You got a problem with that?”
He also shared that the character had an emotional impact on him and while praising Burton, he described the movie and his time as the experience of a lifetime. The actor even has the character’s signature umbrella with him still.

A Brief Look at Danny DeVito’s Upcoming Film Project
Veteran actor Danny DeVito is returning with a new film titled Haunted Mansion. Directed by Justin Simien, the plot revolves around a haunted mansion (as the title suggests) and this leads to a woman taking on help from experts who can get rid of the spirits. One of these experts is a Professor named Bruce played by Devito who has a good amount of knowledge and interest in the occult.
With his expertise and gathering the important history of the mansion, the Professor tries to help the family and their home get rid of the supernatural squatters. Haunted Mansion is set to release on July 28th this year.
